If you wind up here via @stevanzetti’s piece in @TexasMonthly & would like the full list of books that were being sold at THC sites, it’s here. https://t.co/HpAWhfobpO
@markfranz The only bad part about the Spectator piece is that it reminds us that 2000 was a quarter century ago, not ten years ago like most of us feel (or want to)!
@KatinSATX Thank you. Wanna hear something funny? The Trump account didn’t even cross my mind when I tweeted that. 😂 I was thinking of what was revealed about myriad other accounts in the Twitter files dumps.
X must explain why it suspended numerous journalists.
Tech companies that hold themselves out as a modern public square have a responsibility to foster free speech, not censor it.
@ashleyruba_phd Not all PhDs are created equal. A doctorate in gender studies requires no special ability and has no practical applications, which is why it typically leads to unemployment. If you want a six-figure salary, acquire a skillset that employers would pay six figures for.
Critical pedagogy/literacy, aimed at turning Texas kids into little activists, is a staple in Texas ed colleges. There’s a lot of unpack in this article.
@therabbithole I had an inbox/comments full of the best & brightest tolerance reps for all of December. Voicemails too. Only one in a thousand was creative enough to even warrant a response. Here are two who actually did the work. Only one is funny.
@ProtesterLone@lukerosiak Thanks, Fraulein Bovine! It’s an absolute clown car. 3 weeks of death threats/wishes for asking the state to evaluate what they’re selling to visitors. (They have adopted a history-only retail policy.)
@TexasHistoryL Hey, bub. I've had the good fortune of being down with strep for a week. It kept my mind off the idea of Christmas without my dad, to some extent. I know you have the same emptiness this year and want you to know I'm thinking about ya.

@stevanzetti@TxHistComm Ah. Si. Typo. There would not have been much to list until late 2022, circa when our video was released. Jordan was pretty bare until the end of the year.
@stevanzetti@TxHistComm Because it was made in April 2023. You know from our interview that I had visited the sites many times before emailing the full commission. I had eyes each and every time to see what was being sold. The date on the list is the date of the list.
Twitter isn’t real life, Ben. Many of us don’t prefer this medium. When you can get 50k views on a video or reach that many folks with every email, then you can talk to me about earned attention. Kudos on that $35k grant to send tweets that get no engagement, btw. Bravo!
@stevanzetti Haas doth protest too much. I won't link to her materials, so as not to earn them attention they don't deserve and can't get on their own -- last I checked, TX History Mistrust had 51 followers -- but some larger context might be helpful. /1
I sent a response that quoted extensively from my recording of our interview, not a complaint. I was asked to provide the statement by your editor. Can’t imagine why this isn’t going into print edition!
For reference, on the left is a screenshot of what Haas posted on Facebook a few hours ago, including a statement she shared with Texas Monthly after sending a lengthy complaint about the article. On the right is a screenshot of the correction and update notes in the article.

UPDATE: We've made some updates to this article after hearing from Michelle Haas, including: clarifying a detail about one email, adding context on the books that were removed and quotes from Haas, and noting that Haas denies having been angered.
