Captain Anthony F. Lucas helped shape Texas history by drilling the world-famous Lucas Gusher at Spindletop Hill near Beaumont, Texas. 🛢️

Born in Split, Croatia, he arrived in the U.S. in 1879 and later worked as an engineer in Louisiana. While studying the Gulf Coast Region, Lucas became fascinated by the strange mounds scattered across Texas and Louisiana, convinced they hid underground petroleum reserves.

Earlier today, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) welcomed members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) to RRC headquarters for a discussion on energy regulation.

The delegation included seven elected members of the European Parliament, led by ITRE Chair Borys Budka, along with staff and advisors.
