I saw former Foreign and Finance Minister Beyle and former Information Minister Dubbe (pictured), who once shed tears ostensibly out of patriotism, have turned into weird secessionists.

The president(s) in whose camp these men were stalwarts have some explaining and/or apologizing to do — not least for the judgment that elevated such turncoats to senior ministerial positions.

Let us hope there are no more fakers loudly preaching patriotism while conniving against the state.

Lesson learned: words, tears, appearances and sponsorship alike will not do.

We must check under the hood and conduct background checks and evaluations of anyone holding national office.
