As tailpipes get cleaner, the metals reaching the deep lung increasingly come from brakes, tires and road dust, not exhaust. Our new open-access study shows it: https://t.co/Q1UKI9SZE8 @ACSPublications#NonExhaustEmissions

-We found higher levels of antibiotic resistance genes in PM2.5 than in wastewater
-Discovered that certain bacteria capable of forming foam are major carriers of these airborne resistance genes
-Revealed a critical water-to-air transmission route that could impact public health
Excited to share our latest research published in Water Research!
Our study uncovers wastewater treatment aeration tanks aren't just treating water, they're unexpectedly contributing to airborne antibiotic resistance! 🦠💧

The cloud chamber was invented by physicist Charles Wilson, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1927 for his invention. His invention was a major breakthrough in particle physics as it allowed for the visualization and study of ionizing radiation and subatomic particles.
A cloud chamber contains alcohol vapor set at a specific temperature and pressure, sensitive to minor disturbances. As radioactive particles, such as alpha particles (positively charged helium atom nuclei), beta particles (high-speed negative electrons), and gamma rays (electromagnetic waves akin to X-rays), pass through this vapor, they disrupt the molecules along their path. This disturbance leads to the condensation of the vapor, forming visible trails that trace the particles' paths.
Here's a piece of Uranium emitting radiation inside a cloud chamber
2023 was the hottest year on record, confirms @WMO.
#IPCC's Synthesis Report, released in March 2023, shows that every increment of warming results in rapidly escalating compounding and cascading hazards and related losses & damages.

“We must respond to record-breaking temperature rises with path-breaking action.”
As @WMO confirms 2023 as the hottest year on record, @antonioguterres says we can still avoid the worst of climate catastrophe if we #ActNow. https://t.co/xhXVAGrMk2
Kickstart 2024 with a powerful resolution!
Let’s save lives, slow climate change, and maximize co-benefits through partnerships and commitment to mitigate methane, HFCs, black carbon, and deep decarbonization.
Together, We Do!
