Whenever we meet a new technology, we always think about what customer problems it can solve. Drones are fantastic because they can go faster and help local businesses serve customers farther away. We're excited to announce @DoorDash Air today, our in house program which has earned @USDOT@FAANews Part 135 certification, giving us clearance to fly deliveries with our own drones!
As I described in our shareholder letter earlier this year, it will take the marriage of technology and operations to make the promise of AVs come true. Getting the orchestration right across all of the handoffs (loading and dropoffs) is what distinguishes the autonomous delivery and robotaxi problems and also dictates whether a customer actually benefits from this technology or not. This is the benefit of working with DoorDash. We will bring you real scale in the real world (beyond demos and prototypes in simulated environments). That's true if you're a pragmatic technologist who wants to join our DoorDash Labs team to build AVs in house, or whether you're a technology partner who wants to work with us and serve our billions of orders and millions of customers.
DoorDash has come a long way since I completed our first delivery in my Honda 13+ years ago. I'm optimistic about the adventure ahead - come join us!
Great to see @andyfang and @stanleytang talk about some of our latest experiments, some of which are now 8 years old, but still just getting started. If you want to learn, feel, and build at the intersection of autonomy, applied AI, and real world operations with speed and scale, come join us @DoorDash!
Excited to “arm the rebels” as @tobi would say as we @DoorDash give the superpower of fast delivery to @Shopify merchants of all sizes! Grateful for the teams to have worked patiently to get the system details and integrations just right so merchants don’t have to change a thing to get going, fast. https://t.co/3bqBSsMoSG
Almost every restaurant - even the best ones on everyone's lists - have empty seats to fill. That demand should come from any channel to help these businesses maximize sales. And that freedom shouldn't come with the operational burden of managing so many different platforms. So just like how we worked to remove all the different delivery tablets inside the kitchen, we're excited to ship Channel Connect by the @SevenRooms team to help restaurants have what they deserve: maximal demand, managed seamlessly and synced real time inside one book!
A restaurant table belongs to the restaurant, not an app.
Today we're releasing Channel Connect by SevenRooms under an open license. Real-time sync across reservation platforms.
More tables for diners. One book for restaurants.
Today, we're shipping Ask DoorDash, an ordering agent that makes the @DoorDash app easier to use and discover new places. My favorite use cases include asking the assistant to reorder my usual for office lunches and family nights, prompting it to find me new restaurants similar to what I typically order, and building our family's weekly grocery in a couple of minutes by just talking to it and sharing a few recipes we found online. There's 800K+ items across the DoorDash catalog, and it's been a treat to use the assistant to discover so many new places and just how many things are literally in our backyard!
Our goal at DoorDash has always been to build local commerce to reflect the communities we serve. It’s encouraging to see someone actually study our audiences of consumers, merchants and Dashers and publish some of these myth busters, including this one: “Americans don’t consider the service a luxury. Forty-five percent of DoorDash customers said they had a household income below $75,000. That’s the same proportion as the U.S. population as a whole in 2024, according to the Census Bureau.” https://t.co/tRj5PwVCht
The World Cup is one of the best examples of a global, local event - it's both the most viewed event globally and yet the way it's celebrated is always so local in nature. Operating globally in a hyperlocal way is exactly what we do everyday @DoorDash. That's why we're excited to sponsor this year's @FIFAWorldCup and have each of our brands, @DoorDash, @Deliveroo and @woltapp come together in a global campaign to celebrate each of the countries where we operate.
When I was growing up, my mom put food on the table by working three jobs a day for 12 years. One of those jobs was at a Chinese restaurant, where I moonlighted as a dishwasher. Watching her, I learned that for small businesses, there's no clocking out, no difference between weekdays and weekends, and no backup — just the next order, the next bill, the next challenge. Business owners are tough, but too many local businesses spend too much of their time fighting through permits and paperwork instead of serving their customers and building their passion project. DoorDash is committed to solving these problems, and that's why we built Unlocking Main Street.
At DoorDash Labs, we're building a ground up-vehicle for autonomous deliveries, developing a logistics system using the latest tools in AI and deep learning.
These are some of the people making sure Dot is ready for the road.
Awesome to see the @DoorDash team recognized for all the work that's accrued over the past few years beyond food. Excited to continue building the infrastructure (from inventory management to autonomy) to enable local commerce across millions of merchants across all categories in 40+ countries. Our dorm room project has come a long way, yet so much left to do! https://t.co/7D9dn6ocVt
Dashers have delivered billions of orders but this was our first to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!
Sharon, a Dasher and grandma from Arkansas, knocked on the Oval Office door to thank @POTUS for delivering No Tax on Tips, a policy that helps millions of hardworking Americans keep more of what they earn.
This is the kind of change that can happen when tens of thousands of Dashers like Sharon make their voices heard.
It’s always impressive to watch teams put their nose to the grind and ship with velocity and quality, especially in a sea of noise. Congrats @alexandr_wang and team on today’s milestone! Given the rate of change, I can’t wait to try all of the things you ship.
1/ today we're releasing muse spark, the first model from MSL. nine months ago we rebuilt our ai stack from scratch. new infrastructure, new architecture, new data pipelines. muse spark is the result of that work, and now it powers meta ai. 🧵
POV: you’re a delivery robot navigating the real world 🤖 We’ll call it Dot.
Real streets.
Real traffic.
Real decisions happening in milliseconds.
Dot’s autonomy stack was designed for real-world uncertainty.
This is DoorDash Labs autonomy in action.
We’ve heard loud and clear from Dashers that rising gas prices are hitting their wallets. Today we’re announcing emergency relief - 10% cash back on gas (5 times the usual rate) and weekly payments up to $15 for those dashing the most. That's about $1.40 - $1.90 per gallon in savings for Dashers who qualify.
