... which reminds me I should buy a programmer or adapter for SOP44 chips, to program flash chips before I solder them, to detect fake or bad ones.
Can't boot yet from BIOS 3, but that needs more testing....
Test day 7 was hard for my (in)sanity levels.
Had strange behaviors that confused me yesterday, so after a good night's sleep, I found several problems:
1 - I was not flashing the bios I thought I was flashing, so that got me confused
2 - the Bioses' CE pins need a pull-up resistor to 3V3, otherwise, there are interferences, and it boots an other bios than the one I select... so I'll need a new pcb version with that
3 - the MX chip in BIOS 3 was bad/fake, I replaced it, and I can flash it without problems.
Very happy with Test Day 6 π
- wrote a mini prog to program the MX29F1610 flash bios
- sent it to my pcb over USB-C
- it programmed the chip in Bios 2, and now I can boot from it !
That will save me a lot of time from burning a UV-EEPROM everytime I modify my custom bios...
Test Day 5 OK:
- 1 flash chip soldered in "BIOS2"... & re-soldered, it was a bad job :) (1st time doing such a chip) -> before & after photo
- BIOS1 Boot (UV-EEPROM): dc-load-serial -> custom mini-program sent from pc via USB-C -> can read the BIOS2, so pcb + soldering are OK !

@CombyLaurent1 or maybe even not, just to a pc, or an arcade setup or something else via USB or so, to be used in places where there is no Dreamcast.
The article mentions 2 different versions after all:
50-pin socket to connect a Dreamcast (or Atomiswave) BBA ethernet adapter: also tested working ok !
(here connected via a test-adapter to my pcb, I still need to design a real adapter pcb)
That leaves only the 2 footprints for flashable bioses to test...
@doom_headroom My pcb is just to make homebrew development easy on Naomi. On Dreamcast, that's not needed, it's already super easy.
If you're asking about the Dreamshell software, that's not from me, and it is already working for Dreamcast & Naomi
Test Day 3:
- onboard CompactFlash socket works
- W5500 (Wiz8510io) serial->ethernet socket works
That means that until now, everything pretty much works :)
Still to test:
- flashable bioses 2 & 3
- G2 socket for DC/Atomiswave BBA, but that's for later, an adapter pcb is needed

I have 3 netdimms... and I'm never sure which one will work, when I put them away for a while...
(Netdimms are also quite demanding on the 3.3V rail, not this pcb)
@Tailsnic_Retro@Cruzlink2 My personal goal was to make it easier & faster to develop & test homebrew apps with KallistiOS SDK on the Naomi, doing that with a netdimm is painfully slow & frustrating...
