@HuddartRick@Headteacherchat Our LA sets pay scale for maintained schools. A school has to justify placing a TA on higher scale & other schools could then expect legal action for pay equality. One big prob
is termtime only contracts - TAs only receive 39 wks (+ prorata hol pay) £pa of an already low salary.
@tombennett71 Yet how many TA focused training sessions were funded and held?
Behaviour has fallen on TAs since Covid. TAs have been covering and coping yet they have been denied adequate training.
A whole school approach is needed.
@tombennett71 I don’t agree with least trained , but certainly least paid. Many TAs do receive specialist training & definitely clock up more hands-on SEN experience and strategies than a lot of CTs. A CT would receive a TLR / SEN allowance, but TAs don’t. TAs receive a very raw deal.
@UKTAHub If only their pay & contract reflected their worth! Many will be working a 2nd job because they are on a term-time only contract unlike teachers … who also look like they’re about to receive another high % pay rise…unlike support staff.
@RoyalOsteoSoc@wesstreeting@MailOnline@ruthiesun@AVMikhailova That's brilliant. They need to know this also then; a leading cause of osteoporosis is primary hyperparathyroidism. https://t.co/EW5O4qu34y Left untreated it will cause the following:
@UKTAHub@vicgoddard@Hannah_Digest@UniCamPrimSch@DrBiddulph Yet to u/stand why TAs/support are term-time only contracts while teachers paid a p.a salary. Pro-rata for shorter hrs ok. Put TAs on similar terms & much easier to recruit high quality staff. Have diff levels of TAs. Have specialisms .Funding will need to 📈too of course.
@teaching_just It can be awkward. I stared at the ‘word wall’ for 2 days until I couldn’t stand it any more & corrected seperate & definate (y5!) 😱
@UKTAHub It’s not that they just cover class lessons but many do all the planning for and teaching of SEN & lower ability children. I know some teachers who never work with the ‘lower’ table. If I was a parent of one of these children, I’d be furious.
@lifeatthenest I have no idea when I saw it but v young; 5-7 yrs & in school. Rousseau , Tiger in Tropical Storm, had huge impression on me and my taste in art.
@JohnLovesJulie Always had an Easter tree (England) . As a child, we always blew the egg yolk & white out and painted the empty shells. Now I just use shop bought decorative eggs.
I have become more ‘anti social’ as I’ve got older. I used to like buzz , lots of lots of friends, frequent house parties and noise. I prefer peace and quiet, privacy, visits by appointment only & listening to bird song now. Is this a common human experience ?
