51 years ago today, on July 5, 1975, Arthur Ashe became the first Black man to win a #Wimbledon singles title.

I won the Wimbledon women's singles title the same year, and we shared a dance together at the ball.

Brionna Johnson was told she would have to end her pregnancy and undergo a hysterectomy. Instead, a 27-pound fibroid was removed while preserving her pregnancy and her ability to have children. Too often, Black women face limited options or are not heard. This outcome shows what is possible when patients are listened to and given real care. Equity in maternal care is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

Nonviolence is not naive in moments like this. It is necessary. It calls us to protect innocent life, to restrain the impulse toward destruction, and to pursue justice without sacrificing our humanity.

In our shared World House, the loss of these girls is not distant. It is a wound to us all.

50 years ago today the first episode of the series Wonder Woman aired.
I truly believe the reason we liked her was because we recognized her within ourselves. The multifaceted parts of her personality, her strength, her beauty, her warmth, her tenacity, and her honesty is who you are!

We recognize those qualities in her because those are the qualities that women possess. We understand one another because we alone are the Mothers of all Mankind. We are magnificent…at every age…at every challenge, and we do whatever it takes.

I love you all and as I reflect on the stories I have heard you share with me, the art you have drawn for me, and the kindness you have given me for 50 years…..

Yesterday in South Memphis, an 83-year-old woman was being evicted when a family member contacted Councilwoman Yolanda Cooper-Sutton for help. The Sheriff’s Office sent a Civil Levy Commander to the scene, who explained that the eviction was not being carried out by the Sheriff’s Office and that they could not intervene without a court order.

Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton, the homeowner, and her lawyer quickly obtained a court injunction, confirming the homeowner had paid her taxes. Once verified, the Sheriff’s Office stopped the eviction and removed the private movers and private process server from the property.

After the scene was cleared, the problem remained that the homeowners' belongings had been placed on the lawn, and it was getting late in the day. Seeing this, our civil levy division commander contacted his command, who notified Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner, and a call was put out for assistance. Within minutes, deputies who were ending their shift volunteered and quickly responded to assist. With the combined efforts of the deputies, Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton, family, friends, and neighbors, the woman's belongings were moved back into her home—and most importantly, the eviction was successfully stopped. She was able to remain in her residence.

We are grateful for the swift action, compassion, and teamwork shown by everyone involved in supporting this elderly community member during a critical moment.

Cheif Deputy Anthony Buckner said “This situation shows the heart of law enforcement and community service at its best. Our deputies did not hesitate to step up, even after their shifts ended, to make sure this woman could return safely to her home. The cooperation between the Sheriff’s Office, Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton, the courts, and the community is exactly what public safety should look like—protecting the vulnerable and standing together when it matters most.”

For the rest of my days, I will never forgive the media for the unfair treatment they gave this man, President Biden, as he worked at being a great President.

Was he perfect? No.

But he was head and shoulders better than the clown convict that's in there now, the one the media is too chickenshit to ask basic questions.

While Joe was signing bills that helped ALL Americans and in fact going out of his way to help red states, the media feasted on the low hanging fruit of "Joe Biden is old."

Now they spend their days sane-washing and normalizing the dictator in the White House, too afraid and incurious to ask about his health, or to call out his many lies repeated at press briefings.

He's playing them for suckers, plain and simple.

trump is to blame for the rising inflation from his tariffs and from ICE raids, the failed peace efforts in Ukraine, and the authoritarian deployment of National Guard in our cities.

But the media is shrinking from its duties, and complicit in trump's dismantling of our democracy.
