He was just 25 years old when the Nazis offered him a choice: betray his fellow resistance fighters or face execution. Willi Graf chose to protect his friends — even at the cost of his own life.
A Catholic and medical student in Nazi Germany, Graf refused to join the Hitler Youth and later became part of the White Rose, a student-led resistance movement that distributed anti-Nazi leaflets and spoke out against Hitler's regime.
More than 80 years later, his courage and faith continue to inspire. Now a Servant of God, Graf is now on the path toward possible sainthood.

New York State Bishops have released a statement regarding Governor Kathy Hochul's opt-in to a Federal Scholarship Tax Credit.
The program provides a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit up to $1,700 for individual tax filers and $3,400 for joint filers for gifts to qualified scholarship granting organizations (SGOs) that support children’s educational activities.
The SGOs help families of children in public, religious, independent, and charter schools with expenses such as tuition, after-school enrichment programs, tutoring, special needs services, transportation, uniforms, books and supplies, and equipment.

"I can have peace from where I came from. I’m just happy to be here. I cried when I first got here. I dropped to my knees. And I said, ‘God, I made it.’"
In Brownsville, Brooklyn, @CathCharitiesBQ's newest residency for seniors is more than a building, it's a home.
Senior reporters @jesseasthopetv and @paulakatinas were there as @bishopofbklyn of the @brooklyndiocese cut the ribbon at the Gail P. Duke Senior Residence on Livonia Avenue, a 13-story building with 141 apartments built specifically for low-income seniors.

Before he became pope, @pontifex was a missionary in Peru — a calling he says was shaped in part by the prayers and generosity of Catholics around the world.
As World Mission Sunday marks its 100th anniversary on Oct. 18, Pope Leo XIV is reflecting on how the annual observance helped shape his own vocation and sustain his years of missionary work.
With this year's theme, “One in Christ, united in mission,” the pope is encouraging Catholics to recognize their own role in spreading the Gospel through prayer, service and support for missionaries worldwide.

The Red Mass, or Mass of the Holy Spirit, was held on Oct. 8 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in the @brooklyndiocese.
The Mass was sponsored by the Kings County Chapter of the Catholic Lawyers Guild and the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn.
@bishopofbklyn celebrated the Mass, urging judges and lawyers to recognize the inherent dignity of every person and offering prayers sought the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the legal profession in pursuing justice.
This annual liturgy, which opens the judicial year and traces its roots to 13th-century Europe — with the first U.S. celebration in 1928 at St. Andrew’s Parish in Manhattan — has been hosted in the diocese by the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn for more than 50 years.
From the baseball fields of Queens to a World Series championship, Don Cooper never forgot where he came from. ⚾
The former @mlb pitcher and longtime Chicago @WhiteSox pitching coach died Sept. 22 at age 70, leaving behind a legacy that began at @MsgrMcClancyMHS in East Elmhurst.
A 1974 graduate and Maspeth native, Cooper became the first McClancy alumnus to reach the major leagues, pitching for the Minnesota @Twins, Toronto @BlueJays, and New York @Yankees before transitioning to coaching.
He went on to help lead the Chicago White Sox to their historic 2005 World Series victory, ending an 88-year championship drought.
Despite his success, Cooper remained connected to his Catholic school roots and credited his faith, family, teammates, and coaches for helping him fulfill his childhood dream, @jmmancari reports.

"Something that is as ordinary as a manicure could be a doorway for a conversation. Our faith is expressed through ordinary things to bring something that is extraordinary. And who is extraordinary? Our Lady.”
From Chicago, to Kissimmee, to New York City, nail artists are creating sets for clients inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Father Juan Herrera from the @brooklyndiocese and Professor Jennifer Owens-Jofré from @LMUBellarmine are taking a closer look at the art form — and how Our Lady can meet the masses in unexpected ways.

When parish leaders come together, young people — and the Church — grow stronger.
Nearly 80 religious education directors and youth ministers from across the @brooklyndiocese gathered at Immaculate Conception Church, Jamaica Estates for their first joint convocation, a day dedicated to prayer, collaboration and strengthening their shared mission.
In this week's Up Front & Personal, Angie-Lee Vazquez reflects on the gathering and the importance of bringing ministries together to help young Catholics deepen their relationship with Christ.
