@newbiedm Yeah I had fun playing SWRPG, but it was because I was hanging with my friends not the game.

The reason I think Call of Cthulhu is my favorite right now is because it is ordinary people having to deal with extraordinary events. That to me feels more heroic than a min/Max PC

@newbiedm I'll also shout out Shadow of the Demon Lord for a darker fantasy setting or Shadow of the Weird Wizard for more of a DnD family friendly setting. Same system for both, and both are a massive upgrade from DnD 5e

@newbiedm I felt this was about FFG's Star Wars RPG. Fun to play, but it is nearly impossible for a character to die, which reduces the epic moments and epic decisions because there is no peril. I also like call of Cthulhu and Pendragon for those reasons.

@SandyofCthulhu I've always liked the idea in TTRPGs that if you had a spear that it gave you an advantage over a sword wielder. Unfortunately spears are usually not as good of an option

@SandyofCthulhu Reach and height definitely matter or else they would make a big deal about it in sports like boxing and MMA. And you wouldn't have to make a game plan for it if it didn't matter.
