@Changa1985@samashnz@GC_BayArea@linmeitalks Well there were no humans at all on NZ until the Polynesians arrived in 13thC, so everything's pretty new there. I imagine Samuel was refering to the post '79 theocratic regime in Iran, rather than the 7thC Arab conquests over the 'Ir' indigenes there.
@firasmodad@campbellclaret A sovereign People of common birth. From Latin 'Natio' (birth, tribe, race, People), stemming from the verb 'nasci' (to be born).
@Jetmonty@TylerDurden Correct. All the Germanic Peoples (from the Vikings to Goths, Franks to Saxons) should remember their common roots. And the Celts too, whose ethnogenesis was Halstatt, Austria, were always very close ethnic siblings. We are not 'foreign' to each other. Even if we squabble a bit.
@peterquiffs@Jetmonty@TylerDurden The Normans were not French. They were Vikings (Germanics), and the Goths were Germanics too, tiny in number, and of little demographic consequence. The Romans irrelevant, they left, leaving zero DNA behind. Political power is not the Demos.
@VFBritain@RachelHale9920 Inevitably, this is what it eventually boils down to. In the past, when immigration was a tiny number, British people (Welsh, English, Scottish, Irish) were willing to go along with a polite lie, ie that intercontinental guests were actually 'British'. Our generosity was abused.
@RachelHale9920 You are the epitome of Woke, with your gratuitous 'misogyny' finger-wagging, Wouldn't you be happier smashing the Patriarchy with the sisterhood in The Greens or Labour?
@AndrewHWestern We have a very comprehensive literary record of the historic values revered by the English and wider British. These are Courage, Piety, Loyalty, and yes Fairness. The 'values' you just pulled out of your arse are nothing but commie buzzwords that appeared about 5 mins ago.
@WholesomeRaf@firasmodad That's not a counter-argument. Orwell was English/Scottish (with a trace of French). No one ever pretended he was Indian or Bengali, or that it was his accent/behaviour that dictated his ethnicity. Although the ruling bureaucracy did use the administrative term 'Anglo-Indian'.
@Sargon_of_Akkad I 'feel' Cherokee today. Do I now qualify for US land-Rights, tax-breaks and preferential treatment in College selection, even though my ancestry is Welsh/English?
@Sargon_of_Akkad What does 'ethnically Pakistani' mean? What does 'ethnically Welsh' mean? The moron is appealing to the same concept he thinks he's destroying.
