“There is nothing you want to do that you cannot do.” 💜
@NwanneObahor told us to keep showing up every day and use the tools we already have. That’s the energy we’re starting this week with. Happy Monday!

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.
.@cobbo3 do you remember the phrase from the Clinton 92 campaign for the US Presidency that sunk George H. W? Why the architects & champions of this did not seek counsel of those who know is mind boggling. This embarrassment that the #SovereigntyBill has become could have been avoided well in advance🤷🏿♂️

School calendars don’t pause for periods.
As the term approaches, many girls in rural communities worry about managing menstruation in school, and the fear of missing lessons or falling behind.
Menstrual dignity is a back-to-school issue.

Yesterday, the the On-Demand Youth Leadership Program (ODYLP) Uganda STEAM delegation travelled to the United States for a three‑week leadership and cultural exchange, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) implemented by Legacy International.
The delegation includes 16 Ugandan youth (10 women and 6 men), selected for an immersive international experience focused on leadership, civic engagement, technology, and community innovation.
They are accompanied by two adult mentors from Smart Girls Uganda — Rehema Hassan Nambi (COO) and Ijokua Mesely Peter (Head, EcoJua Smart Bags), who will support the youth throughout the exchange and help guide them as they learn, grow, and prepare to bring ideas back home.
This journey marks a meaningful milestone as participants begin a program aimed at building global exposure, leadership capacity, and community‑focused innovation. Smart Girls Uganda proudly celebrates our mentors and looks forward to the impact they will help make.
