I know people on here think having a trillion dollars is fine but it is simply not possible to have any semblance of a democracy when wealth is concentrated like that: https://t.co/bB2fUyWfiR
@SteveWeste63618@JezziiB@elumos Are you just completely ignorant of American history? Eisenhower, who was the top general who led us through World War II and then became President, attained that office in the 1950s. Not before 1913.
Nobody wants a city on Mars. Nobody wants AI in every app. Nobody wants a robot butler. Nobody wants data centers everywhere. Nobody wants flying cars or humanoid robots. We want clean water, we want bees to survive, and we want a habitable planet.
@SteveWeste63618@JezziiB@elumos The top income bracket was once 90% taxed. When Republican Dwight Eisenhower was president. And America was more prosperous than at any time since.
Journalist Janine di Giovanni:
"If a missile hits a hospital in Ukraine,
Europe calls it a war crime."
"But if missiles hit a hospital in Gaza and 100 people die, it’s Israel's right to defend itself."
@SteveWeste63618@JezziiB@elumos You’re just exposing your lack of understanding of simple math. The amount that poor people have to pay in taxes is directly correlated to the undertaxation of billionaires. The former could pay less if the latter paid more. As they did in the 1950s, America’s heyday.
@SteveWeste63618@JezziiB@elumos Stupidity is making poor people pay 20-30% of their income in taxes and withholding and giving them nothing back… while billionaires offshore their wealth, use accounting tricks to pay no taxes, and take gov funding while posturing as Libertarians.
I am 52 years old. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I have no savings, no retirement, and will never own a home before I die.
And there is now a trillionaire.
