@alexfmac All those feats had real purpose behind them, inspiring kids was a byproduct. Sorry but I don't see that purpose here? Happy that kids will be inspired by this but it would be through naivity and thats kinda hollow for me
@alexfmac I mean I was inspired to become an aerospace eng so this is very much my jam generally. Inspired by the Gordon Murray fan car winning its only race. Lilium building flying cars. SpaceX. KKVs intercepting missiles in space 20yrs ago using thrusters like we saw today
@mstafford I like it minus the BYOD approach to the touchscreen. It’s ok to have a decent sized screen and just rely less on it for running the vehicle IMO
@mtpennycook Did you know that Royal Navy personnel can be away from home 6+ months at a time? You want to take away their home unless they have family?
Really daft stuff before we even get into the fundamentals of how undemocratic your proposal is.
No policy expert but you’d think the logical solution would be to set taxes, rates etc that allow these businesses to thrive in the first place, rather than waste taxpayer money on such inefficient initiatives
We've all walked past them.
The empty shop that's been boarded up for years. The old cinema gathering dust. The building everyone says, "someone should do something about that."
Well, that's exactly what I'm doing.
We're investing £210 million to help bring neglected high street buildings back into use - turning empty spaces into community hubs, health centres, shared workspaces, cafés and the local services that people actually want to see.
The funding will also help communities save spaces like pubs and sports clubs and support co-operatives so local people can share directly in their area's success.
People don't measure growth by looking at a spreadsheet. They measure it by looking at their local high street.
That's how we restore pride and bring hope back. Not by telling people things are getting better, but by giving them the power to see and feel the difference where they live.
@alexfmac Did you double down on the ones that were showing good growth, or one and done for each? and if you did double down, where did you set the bar?
the reason people will flee britain isn't the tax rates. it's that the last few years of tax rises haven't benefited the people paying them in any way.
nobody minds paying more in tough times IF things actually improve. infrastructure gets better, the nhs waiting list drops, the bins get collected. but things get worse. every rise buys nothing.
so the tax isn't funding improvement, it's managing decline. without it the whole thing collapses. that's not a country in a tough patch, that's a country in disrepair!
Everyone claiming the wealthy don’t pay their fair share.
Or that benefits are hard to get…
This is for you.
Not just immigrants but EVERYONE needs to earn more in the UK to cover the tax and benefits dolled out by our glutinous state.
55th percentile. Just to break even.
