The future of cancer care isn’t about doing more—
it’s about doing less, with greater precision 💊🧬
In this MedNews Week Conference, Keynote Speaker Dr. Melvin L.K. Chua challenges how we think about treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma—shifting the focus toward intentional, evidence-based care 🧠
It’s easy to spotlight what’s new.
The real shift? Asking what actually improves outcomes 🚨
That’s the conversation we’re having here.

Today, I’m incredibly proud — not just of the science, but of the team behind it.
First and foremost, I want to recognize the MedNews Week team 💙🌍. Watching our trainees contribute meaningfully to scholarship — learning how to critically analyze data, write with precision, and think globally — is exactly why MNW exists. Mentorship is not a side project; it’s the mission. Seeing them grow into authors and future leaders in oncology is deeply fulfilling.
A special thank you to Dr. Chandler Park for his continued mentorship and guidance. Your leadership and belief in building globally minded physician-scholars continues to shape not only this work, but the trajectory of so many trainees.
We are also grateful to Dr. Jorge Eduardo Cortes for the invaluable insights he shared during our MedNews Week Keynote Conference. His keynote presentation and inspirational leadership in leukemia research remind us what academic excellence looks like — rigorous, innovative, and always patient-centered. It is truly a pleasure to learn from him.

🚀 New Publication from @MedNewsWeek🚀
Incredibly proud of this group of trainees who stepped up to co-author this manuscript alongside Dr. Chandler Park.
This is what mentorship is supposed to look like —
🔥 challenge them
📚 elevate them
🎤 give them a platform
📈 watch them grow
At MedNews Week, we don’t just talk about developing future leaders in oncology — we actively build them. Seeing trainees move from learners to published authors is exactly why we do this.
Grateful to Ariana Pelosci for the opportunity to publish this important work in ONCOLOGY. We truly appreciate the platform to contribute to meaningful conversations shaping cancer care.
Now — let’s talk about the science. 🧬
This article dives into the evolving treatment landscape of multiple myeloma and why the conversation is more dynamic than ever:
🔬 ASCT still matters. Despite game-changing advances, autologous stem cell transplant remains a foundational strategy in frontline-eligible patients.
📊 Landmark trials (DETERMINATION, IFM 2009) reinforce deeper progression-free survival with early transplant — even in the era of modern induction regimens.
🧪 MRD is reshaping personalization. Minimal residual disease assessment is becoming critical in determining who benefits most and how we tailor therapy.
💉 CAR-T & bispecifics are redefining relapse. Cellular therapy and immune redirection strategies are revolutionizing refractory myeloma — and may change sequencing paradigms altogether.
⚖️ The big question: How do we optimally integrate transplant, cellular therapy, and precision approaches to maximize durability while minimizing toxicity?
That’s where oncology is headed.
The future isn’t just novel drugs.
It’s strategy.
It’s precision.
It’s training the next generation to think critically about integration.
And we’re all in. 💥

AI is already shaping clinical decisions.
Clinicians are barely being asked.
From notes and inboxes to triage and decision support, AI is entering medicine faster than guidance, policy, or oversight.
We’re collecting real frontline clinician experiences with AI:
• What actually helps patient care
• What adds risk or cognitive burden
• Where safeguards and standards are missing
⏱️ Takes 5 minutes
🔒 Anonymous
🌍 Open to all specialties, roles, and training levels
This isn’t about hype.
It’s about protecting patient safety, clinical judgment, and physician autonomy as AI scales.
If clinicians don’t define the evidence, others will.

This month marks the 4-year anniversary of MedNews Week. Four years since a simple idea in December 2021 grew into our first episode in January 2022. What started with three people and one mission has become a global movement in medical education, reaching thousands of clinicians and patients at every episode, and a team of over 35 volunteers who pour their hearts, time, and passion into this platform.
Today, we are humbled and honored that our work has been officially published in the prestigious Journal of Global Oncology (JCO) Global Oncology. For our initiative to be showcased on a global academic stage is not just a milestone—it is validation that free, accessible education makes a difference, and that innovation and equity can be created anywhere when enough people believe in a mission.
None of this happened alone.
To the MedNews Week team:
Thank you. You are the soul of this platform. Watching each member grow, lead, and realize their potential has been the greatest privilege of all. This community exists because you kept showing up and kept moving the mission forward.
To our speakers:
Thank you for giving your time, expertise, and energy—not for recognition, but because you care about the impact your words can have on patients, clinicians, and families across the world. You helped shape a global classroom.
To ASCO and Conquer Cancer:
Thank you for believing in us when we were still growing. Our journey with ASCO Breakthrough 2023 and the opportunity to present this work in Japan was transformative. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Julie Gralow and the ASCO team for your support, generosity, and mentorship. We are forever grateful.
To our partners:
Thank you for embracing this mission. Thank you for celebrating innovation in education and entrusting us with your audiences, your time, and your belief that we all share a responsibility to lift this field higher.
And to the people who helped guide us here:
Dr. Chandler Park — thank you for helping build this vision from day one.
Dr. Arturo Bonilla — thank you for your mentorship, guidance, and belief in what this platform could become.
MedNews Week was built for one purpose:
To combat global healthcare misinformation and democratize medical education—regardless of geography, background, or financial barriers.
Today we reach over 100 countries, including 44 lower-income regions. We have featured world leaders in medicine, we have become a platform for global conversation and collaboration, and we are just getting started.
From the bottom of my heart:
Thank you to every speaker, every attendee, every partner, every team member, every person who believed in us. Thank you for letting this platform become a community. Thank you for helping us build something that makes medicine more accessible, more human, and more equitable.
We are proud, we are humbled, and we are excited for what comes next.
Here’s to the first four years—and to all the impact still ahead.
