Tailscale

Simple, secure networks for teams of any scale. Built on WireGuard.

One month since TailscaleUp London. Good conversations, great people, and a little networking that didn't require an internet connection.

Here's a look back.

AI agents are getting pretty good at writing code. That doesn't mean they need the keys to the entire network.

We've joined Agent Baseline, with @docker, @keycardai, @snyksec, @socketsecurity , @Tessl_io and @tracebit_com on the Secure Software Factory

The Home Depot wanted to spend less time managing networking complexity and more time building features.

So they built a platform with Tailscale at its center, connecting apps across clusters, regions, and VPCs.

Google Reader might be dead, but RSS is alive and well.

Build your own RSS hub with Tailscale. Read what you want, from any browser, without exposing it to the open web.

Build a thing. Escape the algorithms.

Introducing MagicRoute, a smarter way to select the best available subnet router or app connector. Fewer routing changes, more reliable connections, no manual configuration.

Now in beta for Tailscale Premium and Enterprise customers.

We're headed to OneCon next week.

We're joining the security community for a few days of conversations, new ideas, and hopefully a chance to meet some of you in person.

If you're going, stop by and say hello.

Sovereign AI shouldn’t mean building everything yourself. It means choosing your models, compute, data, and infrastructure, with the freedom to change them.

We’re investing millions to make that practical, led by our new GM Patricia Prewitt.

It’s your job to do everything you can to not get locked into a single provider.

Token prices are falling and IPOs are nearing, so it’s more important than ever for the labs to try and lock you in to everything around the model.

Even with MCP, which is an open standard, it still leads people to lock in. Yeah you’ll add them all to your first agent, but what about the next? And then next?

With the best models changing every couple of months, a bundle of MCP connections (and constant re-authentications) is just one more source of friction that hopefully keeps you stuck juuusst long enough until the LLM cycle makes its way around again.

It’s so important to use a gateway (both LLM and MCP) to connect all of your agents and ideally an agent orchestrator on top of that to make switching costs as low as possible.

And, while it’s pretty common for AI pilled devs to switch models / providers, many other folks don’t know, want, or care. Doing everything at the gateway layer makes it easier to help everyone use AI cost-effectively.

Sometimes, it’s just as simple as defaulting people to an open-source model.

This is why at @tailscale we’ve taken Aperture from an LLM gateway to MCP gateway to an agent interface that works with any model and can connect to any other machine or agent on your tailnet from both your laptop and phone.

I don’t know exactly what the future of agentic AI will look like, but I know it needs the right amount of flexibility to enable new and impactful use cases that will only exist in so far as we can drive costs lower and lower.

Tailscale at GitHub scale looks like 100+ Kubernetes clusters, 115K+ new devices a month, and more than a billion provisioning requests monthly.

Day 3 (encore)/

We silently re-shipped codex cloud. It’s pretty good now

Codex 🤝 Tailscale

Codex Cloud can now securely connect to resources on your tailnet with Tailscale.

Useful tools should be easy to build with, combine, and turn into something even more useful.

Just genuinely want to thank the @Tailscale team for their amazing work. I’m on a plane, connected to my headless Linux machine, running Hermes that is consuming inference on a 4090 widows machine like 8 ft away and its all made simple and possible by you guys. TY! 🙏

We are. See you October 6–8 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Stop by, meet the Tailscale team, and bring your questions.

@avgvstvs96 Sometimes you major in Classics and all your network devices are named after Julio-Claudian Roman emperors and their hangers-on, what can we say 😇

Meta’s Muse can join your tailnet as its own node, then SSH into machines, check containers, and interact with self-hosted services.

The important part: your existing Tailscale access controls still decide what it can reach.
