It involves colleagues in Nigeria, including @TaiwoSheikh, Tosin Adekeye & @Akanbiodi who are recruiting people with depression from clinical psychiatric facilities. 🇳🇬
This Wellcome Trust funded project will also establish a Pan-African depression genetics network, contributing to capacity building and African PI-led funding.
Populations in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America are often underrepresented in #genetics research, including #depression research. @depgenafrica seeks to recruit >10,000 depression cases in Ethiopia, Malawi and Nigeria.
Next we are hearing from @mcintosh2001 and @jaredgmaina about an Africa-UK collaborative project aimed at studying the genetics of depression among Africans, @depgenafrica. 🌍
