Everyone talks about their successes.

Nobody talks about the failures it took to get there.

I spent 7 years failing before anything worked.

Built a blog about hangovers (don't laugh, I was 26). Zero traffic.

Built another site. Got traffic. Couldn't monetize.

Created a course. Nobody bought it.

Tried another business model. Nothing.

And another one. Nothing.

I was working 60 hour weeks as an engineer the entire time. Burned out. Hated it. But I kept thinking if this online stuff doesn't work I'm stuck here forever.

Then I finally got traction.

Built a handful of websites doing about $8k a month. First time anything had actually worked. I thought I had figured it out, so I quit engineering at last.

A few months later Google nuked all of it.

$8k a month to zero overnight.

I sat there thinking I might have to crawl back to engineering and pretend the last few years didn't happen.

But I didn't.

Because every failure along the way taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way.

What makes money vs what just gets traffic. How fast things can disappear. Which strategies are fragile. How to rebuild without spiraling. How to lose something and not quit.

Most people don't fail because they're not capable.

They fail because they take the early losses personally.

Every failure is expensive tuition for a course you can't take anywhere else.

There's an old story about an IBM executive who lost $10 million on a failed project. He walked into the CEO's office expecting to get fired. The CEO said 'why would I fire you? I just spent $10 million educating you.'

That's how I look at every single one of those failures above.

If you quit, it's not because you failed.

It's because YOU decided the story was over.
