Wardaks aren’t Pashtun. Not a lick of Pashto was ever spoken in Wardak until the late 1700s, we always spoke Persian before that, and our genetics are closer to Tajiks than to anyone else. We were forcefully assimilated by you Awghan cave dwellers from the south.

You could have a single male Pashtun ancestor a long time ago and be “Pashtun.” This is how they easily promoted forced assimilation of Tajiks, other Eastern Iranian people, Dardics, and Hindkos into “Pashtun” identity.

That’s why Pashtuns nationalists are so confused. Their entire ethnic and tribal identity is centered around descending from one man who started their tribe hundreds or thousands of years ago, so they are confused about who the other 99.99% of their ancestors were.

The difference between Pashtun nationalists and Tajik nationalists is that Tajiks have a clear and consistent origin story, while every other Pashtun has some different bs story of where Pashtuns came from.

Tajik nationalists are funny and bizarre people. That was just a text from Olaf Caroe’s book "The Pathans" about the Jewish origin of Afghans, which is a myth. He took it seriously, requoted it with this shit and then blocked me, even though I don’t even know him .

Pashtunization was strong because Pashtun identity is paternal. If you had even just one Pashtun male ancestor hundreds or thousands of years ago, the kids of all the males who descend from that man could be considered “Pashtun.”

@Bachefilm_ Karlani colonizers from Paktia imposed their identity on us in the late 1700s. Our autosomal DNA shows that we almost entirely descend from the native Persian and Eastern Iranian speakers of Central Afghanistan/Khorasan who were colonized by Awghans.

KPK is not Pashtun land. Pashtuns were migrants to almost everywhere in KPK, especially Peshawar. KPK = stolen Tajik, Hindko, and Eastern Iranian lands. Awghans came from the Suleiman Mountains only & even many “Pashtuns” like Wardaks are Tajiks who were forced to become Pashtun.

An Afghan Taliban-affiliated tour guide told a foreign tourist that half of Pakistan, including all of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is Afghanistan and that they (Afghans) don’t recognize the international border.

Maybe giving him a scholarship will change his mind.

@blood_borrn Yup, exactly. Pashtuns were always just a small and nomadic tribe that is only from the suleiman mountains originally. Then they expanded and much of it was simple language replacement rather than population replacement.

@blood_borrn It’s truly unfortunate. This is how Pashtuns get to claim they’re the “majority,” but thankfully more and more of us (especially in Wardak) are starting to wake up. A small handful of my family members stopped identifying as Pashtuns and Afghan.
