This one time when I was working at Jack Links Beef Jerky, I figured out a pretty massive production issue just because I remembered that old chemistry class adage "do as you oughta, add acid to water". To make their meat pickling brine for their sausage sticks, they'd been adding water to concentrated vinegar. They didn't know why this was causing it to bubble and interrupting the process. I told them to switch the order and boom, no more bubbles!
