From Insights to Impact: Bruce Chidi's Journey at #Evidence2023!
@BruceLesiba's attendance at #Evidence2023 in Uganda was a transformative experience, where he gained valuable insights into evidence-informed policymaking in Africa and joined the @AfricaAEYL, a platform empowering young changemakers to drive positive change. This opportunity not only fueled his passion for evidence-based approaches but also reinforced the importance of youth leadership in shaping Africa's future.
"In Uganda, I attended #Evidence2023, a prestigious @Africa_evidence conference themed Innovation. The event brought together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) can shape Africa’s policy landscape. Through speeches, panels, and incubator sessions, participants exchanged ideas on advancing EIDM, with a strong focus on integrating technology in data collection, interpretation, and storage.
A personal highlight was the launch of the Africa Evidence Youth League (AEYL), of which I am honoured to be a part. The @AfricaAEYL unites young researchers, practitioners, and intermediaries committed to using evidence to improve African societies. Our immediate mandate was to craft a manifesto on education and design a framework to guide the league’s future.
This transformative experience deepened my passion for evidence-based approaches and affirmed the vital role of youth in shaping Africa’s policies and future."

Empowering Africa through Evidence: Talitha Mpando's Testimonial!
@Talitha_mpando's experience at #Evidence2023 was transformative, revealing Africa's diverse evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) sector and fostering valuable connections, collaborations, and innovative opportunities.
"Before attending Evidence 2023, I had no idea just how wide and diverse the EIDM field is across the continent. Engaging with participants and institutions opened my eyes to what is already being done, what more can be achieved, and what can be adapted in my own context. A particular highlight was the launch of @AfricaAEYL, which set the perfect tone for the panel on 'The Future of Evidence in Africa.' The EIDM Innovations in Africa showcase also stood out, demonstrating the creative ways we are advancing EIDM on the continent. Most importantly, the connections I made during the conference have been invaluable, and we continue to collaborate across countries and sectors."

@PACKS_Africa
is a youth-led capacity development think tank, with a mission to influence the use of research and other forms of knowledge in the development of policies in Africa. Our Corporate Evidence Leaders — Mentorship Programme (CEL-MP) is our flagship initiative for supporting technical and leadership competencies of young people within the ecosystem and beyond. Currently in its second cohort, the programme takes a decolonised approach to capacity development, aiming for mentees to drive learning at their own pace. The Corporate Evidence Leader Mentorship Programme by PACKS Africa was launched in 2021 to address the gap in EIDM skills amongst young people. It is a 12-24 month programme which seeks to tackle both corporate skills such as knowledge for organizational development; administrative skills; ethical leadership skills as well as technical skills, particularly evidence ecosystem governance; critical thinking for evidence use, production, and communication for knowledge brokering. The programme is facilitated through weekly online interactive meetings where we seek to strengthen competencies through peer-to-peer learning and we seek to improve this initiative through continuous evaluations. In our second cohort, we have two mentees, Margaret Impraim, a development professional from Ghana and @BruceLesiba
an educator from South Africa.
