Colombia's new government will likely double down on criminalizing coca despite evidence showing that regulating the plant would have minimal impact on cocaine production.

We started DULF because we knew nobody was coming to save us, so we had to save ourselves. It worked. But right wing politicians made themselves famous off scapegoating us. The government de-funded us. The cops raided us. But our day in court is here. https://t.co/KwQctmClj3

Colombian decertification and the state's potential return to glyphosate spraying are a concerning turn for the drug war.

US has just decertified Colombia (and others) efforts in counter-narcotics operations, which will likely lead to serious defunding of bilateral military and development deals, and additional trade restrictions.
Trump has explicitly blamed Petro for the decertification.
@itsDCastrillon

Banning #Kratom's 7-OH may be a slippery slope of criminalisation and prohibition. In practice, it's a nightmare to enforce, and may just drag this plant into prohibition along with it.

Remembering @OverdoseDay#IOAD25, we see overdose deaths as a policy failure of prohibition - failing to keep drug markets without contaminants, failing to keep people safe.

The new Kenyan drug bill is a step in the right direction. It pushes for youth safety, especially around alcohol.
But as @EstherPassaris told us, it's a missed chance to fund harm reduction interventions that keep people alive.

The Chinese #nitazenes ban could be a key move in controlling the drug's production and international trafficking.
But it could just as likely continue the cat and mouse game of drug banning that moved us from fent to nitazenes.
