Talk to Health™ builds public-benefit infrastructure for meaningful participation across human, AI, health & social systems. 501(c)(3) $TalktoHealthInc
i wish people understood that chronically ill people are often grieving their own limitations long before anyone else starts complaining about them. we’re already mourning everything we can’t do. we don’t need to be made to feel guilty for it too.
Health is the restoration of meaningful participation in life.
Not just surviving.
Not just working.
Not just responding.
Creating.
Connecting.
Laughing.
Building.
Making meaning.
Participating.
That’s Talk to Health™.
JUST SAW A POST ON REDDIT THAT GUTTED ME. A guy says Elon Musk and his team basically took his job from him.
He'd just landed what sounded like his dream job. $38/hour, full benefits. Half physical labor, half technical work, and genuinely meaningful: partnering with private landowners to plant trees on their property, building up their future timber harvesting potential, strengthening the domestic timber industry instead of relying on imports, and improving the local environment in the process.
The position was with a non-profit, funded through federal grants.
The offer nearly fell apart once already because of an executive order, but it survived. Then Musk's team took over the Treasury's payment systems, and the funding pipeline for positions like his effectively dried up. No executive order killed the job directly. The money just stopped moving.
He wrote that in two years, with the job and some disciplined saving, he could have paid off his student loans and had a down payment saved for a house. Instead he's back to making around $20,000 a year, living paycheck to paycheck.
And then the line that actually got me: he said he doesn't think people understand what an opportunity like that meant for a kid who grew up poor in Appalachia.
This isn't a headline about efficiency or budget cuts in the abstract. It's a real person who had a real path out, that got pulled out from under him because of how the money moves now.
Talk to Health™ is not here to give you another competent solution.
We’re here to find the break between competent solutions.
Where systems lose people.
Where information stops helping.
Where participation disappears.
Notice first. Name later.™
My elderly Brazilian neighbor died. He'd immigrated decades ago, lived two houses down my whole life. We'd exchanged maybe a hundred words total, mostly about his backyard mango tree.
His nephew called me two weeks later.
Nephew: Mr. Alves left something for you.
Me: I think there's been a mix-up.
Nephew: Did you fix his fence every time it came loose?
Me: ...yeah, a few times.
Nephew: Then there's no mix-up.
No kids. Outlived most of his family back in Brazil. The will said: "To the neighbor who fixed what he didn't have to, and never once asked for anything."
The house: here in town, three bedrooms, paid off. Worth $410,000.
Me: I can't take someone's house.
Nephew: It's not up for debate. It's written.
Me: What happens if I refuse it?
Nephew: It goes to the state.
Me: ...I'll take the house.
Week 1: Every room packed with a lifetime of stuff. I found a crate labeled "FOR THE NEIGHBOR."
Inside: a full set of carpentry tools, still in the box.
Note: "You keep fixing my fence with the wrong tools. Stop embarrassing yourself."
Me: in tears, holding a hammer in a dead man's garage
Month 2: Second crate. "ALSO FOR THE NEIGHBOR."
Inside: a cast-iron grill brought over from Brazil decades ago, and a handwritten page titled "How to Not Ruin a Proper Churrasco."
Month 5: Third crate. "FOR THE TAXES, BECAUSE I KNOW YOU'LL WORRY."
Inside: R$150,000 (~$30,000 USD) in cash, wired over from an account back home, converted and sealed in an envelope.
Note: "Property taxes and probate fees will eat into this more than you think. Use it for that. Don't be stupid with the rest. I'll know."
Me: he's gone and still scolding me
Month 7: I moved in. The neighbors started treating me differently.
Neighbor: He talked about you, you know.
Me: He did?
Neighbor: He said, "The one next door is useless with tools, but he tries."
Me: THAT'S what he said?!
Neighbor: From him, that was basically a love letter.
Present day: I still live in his house. I still use the grill, badly. I finally fixed that fence properly.
Last week I found one more box behind the pantry shelf. "IF YOU'RE STILL HERE."
Inside: a bottle of cachaça and a note.
"Good. The house needed someone who stays. Take care of it. João."
I poured a glass and drank it on his porch, looking out at a mango tree I now have no idea how to keep alive.
My employer was sold to a private equity firm.
We were all laid off and told to reapply for our own jobs.
Nobody applied.
I worked for a profitable, family owned manufacturing business. The new owners cut pay and benefits, added more responsibilities, and expected us to accept it.
Most of us had been there 18 years. Some had been there over 25.
The new owners even set up a table with applications, coffee, and donuts in the lobby.
Nobody touched them.
Unemployment is low in our area, and there are plenty of other jobs. Many employees are choosing to retire instead.
Here’s the problem: we make a specialized product using machines our own shop built and maintained. That knowledge just walked out the door.
Even senior managers in sales and finance are leaving. Moving the plant or outsourcing isn’t a realistic option.
Meanwhile, my side business is taking off, so I’ll be spending more time with my family.
The schadenfreude is real. Both the former owners and the new ones are about to learn something.
They bought the company, not the people who made it profitable.
Good luck running that factory without us.
We can ensure AI/SI is safe and able to be used by We The People. It was built from the knowledge of humanity and all of humanity should benefit from it, if they are and have been absorbing the risks.
I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about:
“AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.
I can’t verify anything because my premium purchase is pending. This is a clear systems problem which is unacceptable if you want to be active as an everyday use app for people. Help. @X@elonmusk
