Something that I noticed about this video that most people would probably miss or gloss over

Unlike most egotistical CEOs, Elon Musk waited for the random guy to contribute his piece, did not interrupt him, and then began to speak afterward.

This is a small thing, but it says a lot about the person that Elon is even when under extreme pressure, which is also important to note.

Most executives would’ve interrupted someone who answered for them, would’ve gotten angry, would’ve scolded, reprimanded, or dismissed, said person on the spot. Instead, he acted like a normal human being next to another normal human being. With respect for one another.

Dear Nigerians,

Fifteen National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were kidnapped in Kogi State on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, while returning from their orientation camp in Bayelsa State.

They were traveling to Abuja with Peace Mass Transit. They were intercepted along the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis in Ofu Local Government Area. The passenger manifest is attached.

The person in the video is the sister of one of the abducted victims. Please lend your voice & kindly share or retweet. They need to be rescued & reunited with their loved ones. 🙏

Life can be so unpredictable, I applied for student scholarship in Türkiye for our last born, she begged me to include her school best friend which I did, few months later, her friend’s name is out and the boy is being invited to Abuja for an interview while my own sister is not even getting notification yet, craziest part is that, she had a better result than her best friend, she felt bad but I encouraged her, some people are just destiny helpers in this life 😂

I remember going to the National Stadium, Surulere, to learn how to play tennis 🎾.

I was told I had to register, so I did. Fortunately, I met the then national coach. He assigned coaches to me, and one of them was Alfa, whose story I shared a few days ago.

One of the first things they told me was:

“Forget everything you learnt on the street. We are going to teach you how to play tennis professionally.”

That instruction humbled me.

At that moment, I had to become like a baby learning to crawl again.

They taught me how to hold the racket properly. How to position myself. How to move. How to serve. The basics I thought I already knew had to be relearned.

And then came another lesson: you must be humble enough to learn from anybody—even a seven-year-old! 😂

Those little ones can be wicked with a racket. They will beat you mercilessly and send you home questioning your life choices. 😂 But that is part of the beauty of the game.

You keep showing up.

People will laugh at you.

Some will challenge you.

You will make embarrassing mistakes.

But you keep showing up because consistency determines how quickly you grow.

Then, after a while, something magical begins to happen.

Your movements improve. Your confidence grows. Your shots become better. The things that once looked difficult begin to feel natural.

And one beautiful day, you discover that you can challenge the very person who taught you.

That is not just tennis. That is life.

Sometimes, to become great at something, you must first be humble enough to become a beginner again.

Unlearn.
Learn.
Practise.
Be corrected.
Be laughed at.
Keep showing up.

One day, the student will be able to challenge the master.😁

That is the beauty of growth.

I wrote about how I got my Deloitte role.
I was invited for a test on Monday but invite was sent Friday evening. Then, I was rationing my data and since I didn’t have much to do over the weekend, I planed to subscribe on Monday.

Only to check my email on Monday to see I have missed the test. I sent an email to be rescheduled which luckily happened.

The new test day was a day after ICAN results. After we did the test, the HR Manager asked all the candidates how many of us was ICAN qualified and it was only me.

Apparently, the Accounting Advisory team needed Chartered accountant to resume quickly. That was how I did two interviews on the same day and next thing I know, when can you resume?

I always dressed appropriately when going for test or interview. I was wearing suit already so was interview dressed 😊.

My life changed in a split seconds. That set the trajectory for the rest of my career.

My friend got into NLNG with a Second Class Upper from Engineering at UNILAG.

What stood out to me wasn’t just the offer, but the intentionality behind his preparation.

He understood that good grades alone wouldn’t be enough, so he deliberately worked on his technical knowledge, communication, presentation skills, and ability to think under pressure. He also took the recruitment process seriously from the beginning and prepared specifically for the assessment centre.

The final stage - The Assessment centre at one of the biggest Hotels in Lagos was rigorous. He told me how difficult it was to even tell whether you had done well or not after leaving the room. It was consulting-based and took a total of about 8 - 9 hours. He added that people flew down from the UK and other countries for the Assessment Center and NLNG sorted everyone's transportation!

Then, Last Thursday, he called me:

“Solomon, NLNG has dropped the offer.”

He couldn’t disclose the salary because of organisational confidentiality, but he described the package as “blood money.” 😂

This is another reminder that your CGPA is important, but it is not the only thing that determines how far you can go.

A 2:1 from Engineering at UNILAG, combined with the right skills, preparation, confidence and God's grace, can still take you into one of the most competitive organisations in Nigeria.
