Seahawks RB Room Update 🧵
Emanuel Wilson
George Holani
Kenny McIntosh
Zach Charbonnet (IR)
Let’s break it down.
Wilson will be an excellent stopgap thumper while Charbonnet is out. In his one game with 20+ carries, he had a 60.7% success rate, 5th best in NFL.
@seasidejoenews You pay him now because you can get him at 2026 market rates.
Even if he simply duplicates his play in 2026, you’re paying him more in 2027 due to the growing salary cap.
If he breaks out, the price skyrockets. It’s exactly why he’s NOT inclined to sign now.
@SeahawksForever As of now, it’s fair to say the talent we lost is markedly better than the talent we gained.
Retaining talent is typically marginally factored into any offseason puff pieces.
Whereas other teams have made clear upgrades. These rankings obviously don’t reflect how good we are.
Let’s be clear here. Derick Hall’s absolute floor for APY on an extension is $16M.
I’d ultimately expect him to make more $ than Boye Mafe, which puts him closer to the $20M APY range.
The Seahawks should prioritize extending him before that price goes up.
@CHawk_Talk $12M is crazy. That’s what 29 year old Dre’Mont Jones just got from the Patriots.
Hall’s floor will be in the $16M range and could easily push to $20M.
2025 Seahawks draft grades in hindsight.
I’d say this list is pretty spot on (getting any legitimate value out of 3 5th round picks is a massive win), however, I’d say Arroyo is more of a B and Milroe a C.
Arroyo showed flashes of being a legit piece in this offense in 25.
@jlwaters1@MikeDugar I’d say for 2026 CB was/is the much shallower position, but Edge is positioned poorly for 2027 with DHall, Nwosu, and DLaw all potentially being off the roster.
The 26 Edge class was pretty poor after Mesidor. I’d love to add to the room but glad they didn’t force it.
@jlwaters1@MikeDugar I’d say because after CB2, it’s a lot of unproven talent.
Fill the room with talent & let the best guys win in camp so you’re not left void of quality options.
3 picks remain (for now) across the next 6 rounds.
The positions of priority are now just CB, Edge, & S.
I expect pick 64 to absolutely be spent on one of those positions while the team goes more BPA in rounds 3 and 6.
My thoughts on Day 1 of the draft…🧵
I wasn’t anticipating any prospects with even a fringe 1st round grade to make it to pick 32, & that’s exactly what happened.
That said, Jadarian Price was 1 of 2 RBs in this draft that I had a grade higher than 80 on (2nd round cutoff).
Beyond that, you have to be fairly stoked about what the rest of the NFCW did.
Cardinals burn a top 3 pick at one of their biggest positions of strength.
Rams burn pick 13 on a backup QB when high impact guys like Lemon & Bain were available.
49ers don’t add anyone yet.
@SeahawkNerd Same. None of the remaining options were technically worthy of pick 32, but it was clear the trade ups just before their pick impacted their ability to move down.
Having said that, I think it’s just as likely (if not more so) that John seeks 2027 picks in any trade down, not seeing a major talent dip going from 32 to say 45.
I’d argue that’s a reason to trade back.
If they don’t see a can’t-miss guy at 32, it makes sense to add volume later to give yourself more opportunities at finding an impact player.
Over their last 5 1st rounds picks, they’ve had the #1 player at a position of need available.
@BradyHenderson I’d argue that’s a reason to trade back.
