@mnwsth what's your take on the strategy of reaching out to people for opportunities. what if they are more interested in the opportunity in the field rather than researcher('s particular research) to be deeply personal? is that something that is looked down upon in general in academia?
@sibassism@talksports45 We should have never let him go. It was a huge mistake. I hope they don’t repeat the same thing again at least until the Olympics. He shouldn’t leave us this time @SjoerdMarijne . we can have all his family in India :)
@Mather143467@QuanquanGu it is this transition phase of claiming credit for work done by AI as your own that maximizes the benefits of the reward system, especially for early career researchers. this will stop only when everyone is required to give AI authorship, ordered by its contribution to the work.
@josusanmartin That is why people are worried. In this transition phase, many will use AI heavily and still claim the findings as their own. Top academia is extremely competitive. Credit is what keeps people in the game. Without clear credit, the system and the field enters a swampy land.
@josusanmartin 2/3
In academia, credibility comes from credit. Your work is judged by other researchers. That credit is what brings rewards. If AI does most of the work on a problem, then the honest first author is basically the AI.
@QuanquanGu How exactly are we declaring this “solved by high school students” if it was heavily AI-assisted? Academia is notoriously particular about credit. The most one should credit the authors with is verification and packaging, and even that only after peer review.
@ChessMishra To your father and parents- I think it's time for you to understand that your child has free will and they have accomplished enough to take it forward from here.
This is insane 🤯
A new system called Paper2Video can read a scientific paper and automatically create a full presentation video slides, narration, subtitles, even a talking head of the author.
It’s called PaperTalker, and it beat human-made videos in comprehension tests.
Hours of academic video editing... gone.
AI now explains your research better than you do.

@virenrasquinha Hi Viren, whatever happened at the end, which to me clearly looked like a deliberate fight and push, doesn't deserve a red card? I want to understand what the rulebook says
@Ramneet_Singhh in that case they (hockey India) should ban him for the rest of the matches as well if they go forward. I am sure Viren will agree. Intentional foul should never be entertained.
