We are in the middle of one of the largest snowfalls in the Province’s history. I have been in constant contact with our Emergency Management team throughout the day and our team has been doing everything they can to locate and move all available plows and equipment from every area of the province that’s not using them to get them, safely, to the areas of greatest need.
We’re also working with NB and PEI to get equipment.
And a request is being made of the federal government to offer any and all support they can provide.
Please follow your local directives and stay off the roads to allow our plows to do their work. Please stay safe, everyone. It will take time to dig out and clear roads so please be kind and patient. Lots of good people are working very hard.
Our new paper investigates the addition of allyl isothiocyanate to soup and the resulting sensory properties. Thanks to Jamal, Mackenzie, Tanvi and Rachel (@AcadiaNutrition) for working on the project!

These pictures taken earlier, show cars almost completely submerged near the 102 interchange.
Sackville River runs parallel to the highway here.

UPDATED: An evacuation order is in place for people living near Nova Scotia's Saint Croix River system, as torrential downpours swamp much of the province. https://t.co/9ahr4ZK2mL
Numerous roads are washed out & remain closed due to flooding. There are abandoned cars on roads & highways causing dangerous conditions. There's significant damage & residents are advised to stay off the roads. See a map of blocked roads due to flooding: https://t.co/Qrjhoe1F22
HRM is under water, we’re in the 5th hour of an electrical storm & police are asking ppl to avoid travel. Yet 100s of people staying in tents - our neighbours - have nowhere safe to go. Tents are not safe shelter & they are not homes. Housing is a human right.
Numerous road washouts in the Bedford and Sackville areas!!
The Bedford highway is dangerous and completely water covered, with rocks and debris in many places.
This is between the Fisherman’s Market and Hammonds Plains Road.
