@TaylorMcNallie Exactly no hope of convicting you on a hate charge but smear you in the press and the press too stupid to even question that accusation
Hello folks, it's Saturday evening at the bullshit protest. So far, things are not going well for Mahmoud Mourra as he tells the counter protestors that we need to leave their kids alone as he battles with music and dancing bodies.
Atleast Mourra is smiling about being bamboozled
@1MikeMorris@maxfawcett We cannot present “hope” to the “Freedom” crowd as they are oppositional to anything rational people have to say, even the fact that the world is dealing with a pandemic. But I think we can teach moderate conservatives through honest discussions on where hope lies and doesn’t.
@greg60328592@rodmickleburgh@prairiecentrist@JustinTrudeau No It’s very different We never saw the extent of hatred and violent threats that we are seeing now, both online and in person. I did not think I would see nooses carried through the streets, hints of murder and questioning of paternity that I saw with the “Freedom” crowd.
Poilievre was Harper’s personal attack chihuahua in the House of Commons, a job he pursued with such alacrity that he elbowed his way into cabinet as minister of state for democratic reform
@theJagmeetSingh Divisive politics? We HAVE to divide ourself from an opportunist like Poilievre! If he is not a fascist, he is a fascist enabler; if he is not a racist, he is willing to embrace and empower racists to gain and keep power. Yes - you need to divide yourself from that. Loudly!
@CalgaryOccupy Apathy amongst youth was a reason Trump got elected; none of the candidates spoke to them. But sometimes voting is a matter of compromise , not idealism. Right now, in Canada, we need all hands on deck. Apathy is our biggest problem as evidenced by Ford’s win in Ontario.
Take a look at where the yellow is. That area is lost and there’s not likely a damned thing we can do about it. We need to concentrate our efforts where there is hope.
@jspackma @CalgaryOccupy@ItsDeanBlundell They are. If you look at where Poilievre got his votes, rural Alberta lived up to its reputation. But I believe there are people who could be swayed away from the extremism of this Conservative government. Enough to make a difference? We have to try.
@CalgaryOccupy I will respond on a forum where there might be people who could be swayed by rational discussion. Or people are coming under attack and need support. But no point in reacting to name calling “freedom” fighters. They are totally irrational.
@CalgaryOccupy There is no point in engaging - they immediately go to name calling. So far this week I have been called a stupid bitch, a cunt, and a moron - and that is without engaging, merely showing support to a doctor who is being harassed and threatened. Our time is valuable.
If a lot of people (particularly racialized women) are saying the person you are platform is problematic, and you still platform them, don't say you didn't know, just admit that you didn't care.
@CalgaryOccupy@ItsDeanBlundell We shall see. Given continued UCP support despite the dumpster fire they have been and the re-election of Ford in Ontario, I am afraid that an awful lot of people are lathering themselves in Conservative snake oil. Let’s not make any assumptions. We have work to do.
Mr. Gatekeeper Poilievre has voted against:
Civil Marriage act
Cannabis Act
Right to euthanasia
Transgender rights
Repeatedly against women’s rights
$10/d Childcare
CERB
Gutlessly abstained for the Human rights Act.
Freeeedooooooooooommm!
Ok Pierre is in. I am taking nothing for granted. The US did that with Trump and that was a big mistake. We have work to do. How do we convince working Canadians that voting Conservative is not in their best interest? Now more than ever.
For the last 50 years across North America, "Conservative" governments made the already rich richer at the expense of everybody else. This is a feature, not a bug. If you live forever you'll never see a clearer example of this than the 2019 Kenney Government in Alberta THREAD
@blackyouth2@WildyCanadian I am sorry. At one time I would have agreed with you. But any party that chooses Poilievre as leader has announced itself as a party of hate.
