Knowledge is the key to any meaningful success. Without it, you merely exist in the midst of an evolving world.
Humans have been on Earth for 300,000 years, that is 3,000 centuries—but the most important century is the one that some of us were born in; the 20th.

That century gave us the motor car, aeroplane, television, radio, telephone, computer, internet, rockets to the moon, mobile phone, satellites and more advancements that transformed life forever.

All this progress was made possible and preserved through books. Kings and the wealthy have always kept scholars close, knowing that without knowledge you become nothing more than an empty noisemaker—like many we see on these social media streets.

If you have given up on learning, at least make sure your children have access to books. Books do not just cure ignorance; they prepare for the future.

We were lifted from poverty by knowledge, not hustling or shady deals—those fade quickly.
Think of the hustler from the 1980s—where is he now, and where is his family in life’s hierarchy?

Crooks who mock education do so because they are insecure and know they lack something fundamental.
Money in an empty head soon disappears. That is why empty political leaders deliver nothing but rehearsed soundbites—and attract empty followers dazzled by empty things.
Educated people are a threat to useless leaders because they can’t be manipulated with silly speeches. They are knowledgeable.

To be born in the most impactful hundred years and die ignorant is a shame. It is like being hungry in the middle of a bumper harvest.

Today we have Artificial Intelligence, internet search engines like Google, and the world’s knowledge in our pockets. Ignorance in 2025 is unforgivable.
But it takes a sound mind to value learning, and a willing mind to read and grow. The ignorant shout, “You think you know everything” because it is their clumsy way of admitting their self-inflicted ignorance.

The world has advanced far since my days at Marlborough High School. Yet without leadership, as in Zimbabwe, 2025 feels like 1955—without electricity, water, or healthcare; while the rest of the world moves forward.

If you do not read or learn, the technological miracles of the 20th century mean nothing to you. You may as well be living in the age of your ancestors.

Ignorance is a choice, and in this century, it is the most expensive one you can make.
