I think being 'hard' on a student is telling them they are capable of relentless excellence and I'll accept nothing less.
You think being 'hard' on a student is giving them a zero on a late assignment to teach them a life lesson.
We are not the same.
#ThoughtForTheDay As schools begin to lay out plans for the fall be mindful of where & w/whom you share your frustrations. Kids don’t need to hear adults complaining about the decisions being made & when kids complain let’s model what it means 2 be the voice of reason. #Culturize
I have no idea what school will look like in the Fall, but whether it’s in-person or online, it will NEED to include tons of SEL and healing-informed work to deal with staff, student, and family trauma. Compassion before curriculum.

With Pi Day just around the corner, let’s remember what Pi is all about.
After washing your hands thoroughly, cut the crust off a pizza pie and lay it across four others. You’ll see that the crust spans a little more than 3 pies. That’s Pi ≈ 3.14.
But that’s not all! (Cont’d)
Sometimes, kids make bad choices… but that doesn’t make them a bad kid. I hope we communicate that message to our students. Tomorrow is a new day. (And we’re all hoping to be a little bit more mature tomorrow than we were today.) #Redemption
Yearly reminder: for some kids the holidays are a big fat giant reminder of the chaos & dysfunction in their lives. Please feel compassion instead of anger. What’s your one best piece of advice for this time of year? #edchat#thatonekid#edutwitter#tlap#teach#teacher

“You never miss the opportunity to tell somebody how much you appreciate them.
There’s nothing that makes a person feel better about themselves is when you say — I appreciate what you do.”
