No rational decent human being can accept or endorse violence as a means to resolve conflicts, particularly it’s use against civilians.

In the same breath no rational decent human being can condone a situation where people are living under the yoke of occupation for more than five decades; enduring the most humiliating apartheid and racist policies; subjected to systematic appropriation and annexation of what little is left of their land; with two million living in Gaza under a total blockade for over 15 years; with over five million refugees living in diaspora for many decades; and with no hope of a foreseeable change in their plight

It would be naive and almost delusional to believe that people living under these conditions will not periodically resort to violence as an act of desperation to fight for their freedom and human dignity

The Palestinian people are facing a deafening conspiracy of silence by the international community. With this unsustainable situation which runs contrary to the basic principles of justice and Rule of Law, we should expect recurring eruptions of violence, death and destruction and forget any expectation of a lasting peace in this troubled region

As someone from this region who spent a good part of his life advocating peace and peaceful coexistence
this is a sad and grim prospect.
I hope and pray that somehow the international community, Israel and the Palestinian will have the wisdom and the courage to prove me wrong.
