Fascinating: How good is GPT-4 as a peer reviewer?
A test on 4,800 Nature + ICLR papers finds AI reviewers overlap with human ones as much as humans overlap with with each other
Plus, 57% of authors find them helpful. A flawed but useful tool for authors https://t.co/Y7KqTNhhqm
#Solar colleagues, I'm amazed by the energy of the crowd and the exhibitors. Even though it felt a little subdued compared to the chaos of Tuesday, y'all had dozens of conversations and walked thousands of steps! Well done!
Is the numbering of booths at RE+ inane? Navigation has been really hard this year.
Still, kudos to the industry for appearing in mass for what's probably the biggest #SOLAR event in the U.S.
Predictions are hard. Especially when they are about the future. Maybe even more when they are about electric load in circuits with a lot of distributed #solar!
Join us in #REplus on 9/11 at 2pm in the Veronese, Rm 2503 to hear about how forecasting makes the grid more reliable
The #SolarData Bounty Prize is looking for #PV data from underrepresented states: AK, KS, IA, MI, MO, ND, SD, NE, WA, WV, and WY.
Find out how you can take home part of $1.4M for your data contributions toward PV R&D efforts π https://t.co/J94WJEjqQy
Submissions close Aug. 14.
At a time when the risk of nuclear use is higher than it's been in generations, let's commit to creating a more peaceful and secure future and achieving our goal of a world without nuclear weapons. Join me this weekend to fold & share #CranesForOurFuture https://t.co/aLYsK0oVDq
The amount of electricity generated from renewables reached 7858 TWh as of 2021, according to @IRENA's Renewable Energy Statistics 2023.
Hydropower remained the largest share of the global total, while wind & solar continued to dominate the expansion. πhttps://t.co/XkaPfmxo35
This competition will show us how well existing technology can do #netloadforecasting and if #machinelearning can do as well as it did in the "true load" forecasting days (nobody called it ML back then!)
Short-term forecasting is one of the most cost-effective solutions to integrate a lot of #solar on the grid. With much of solar being "behind-the-meter", direct solar power forecasting is hard. But what about #netloadforecasting?
The #NetLoadForecasting Prize teams are worth their weight in gold (or rubies, pearls, sapphires, you name it). β¨ With only days left, they're still working for the top spots on the leaderboard. See how the 70+ teams (anonymized as gemstones) compare: https://t.co/8Kc3TVQH5O
Utilities have been doing load forecasting for decades - actually, one of the oldest uses of neural networks! - so forecasting of "net load" (what's seen at the substation, as true demand is masked by rooftop solar generation) is already happening in high-solar grids π
@mateosfo Solyndra was not a concentrator tech - it was thin film (CIGS) solar with an innovative form factor targeting flat white(-ish) rooftops. It, too, became insolvent (as soon did other traditional CIGS concerns) once the supply issue with Silicon was resolved
If you are in D.C. and interested in the visualization of climate metrics, don't miss out on this great @NASA exhibit with larger-than-life visuals.
h/t to @elenikostis for her work on the content and the design
NASAβs Earth Information Center is now open to the public! π¨π
Visit @nasa in downtown Washington, D.C. to see what weβre learning about our home planet in our new Earth science exhibit and immersive experience. https://t.co/WtP1r0ykes
Performance data from #solar power plants is essential for accurate modeling of solar power generation. If you own PV systems, DOE (@Energy) may pay you if you publish a subset of one such system. Look at the Prize details below on how to win one (or multiple) cash awards
βοΈSolar PV system owners! @Energy announced the American-made Solar Data Bounty Prize. The $1.4M prize competition is to increase the accessibility of high-quality time-series datasets for photovoltaic systems. Applications for Stage 1 are due 8/14: https://t.co/0FxxfrD1l8
@EmFPecora "[...] the model was forged in the fires of Big Tech companies such as Facebook, where sociopathy is a design philosophy."
Enough said. (Plus the requisite Black Mirror episode)
