You Me At Six, Slam Dunk Festival 2024
REVIEW: So, here we are. The beginning of the end. You Me At Six were always going to make their swan song one to remember, but the lengths they have gone to make their final appearance at Slam Dunk special mean that this is an instant benchmark for how every band should wave goodbye. From the first note of the opening scream-along of 'Save It For The Bedroom' to a crushing showing of 'Bite My Tongue', all bases are covered in screaming colour. Every era is given its chance to shine, from 'Hold Me Down' favourites 'Liquid Confidence' and 'The Comedown', featuring none other than Sean Smith rolling back the years in savage style, to 'Beautiful Way' and 'NO FUTURE? YEAH RIGHT', giving nods to their more recent victories. Josh Franceschi is as energetic as he is emotional throughout, relishing in the caustic reaction that 'The Swarm' and 'Jealous Minds Think Alike' get as much he's holding back the tears during a stirring 'Always Attract', featuring a gorgeous vocal display from his sister Elissa Franceschi. With their final tour now announced, including their last show at Wembley Arena, every time they take to the stage from now until then will feel like this. A real celebration of showing what the underdog is capable of, of what it means to march to your own beat no matter what anyone else wants you to be. It will be hard to watch You Me At Six lower their casket, but no matter what, it will be one hell of a party. Believers forever? You better believe it.
