A3: my school is specifically teaching digital citizenship this year to our 9th graders. It will foster positive changes but the students need first to learn to use it properly #formativechat
@danacoledares@mr_middle_2 I teach 9th grade and I just had a PD in my building today about this. They have learned things like how to walk in the hallways since elementary school, but still need that reminder/push to make the right decisions #formativechat
@mr_middle_2 This is an interesting idea in the classroom. Similarly but not in a classroom, I played college field hockey and the one year our coach had us create our own team rules instead of her giving them to us. Changes the perspective, but can be risky #formativechat
@crystalm779@sethfewell I like this, it sort of forces them to talk about themselves in front of others, which a lot of students don't like to do. Seems like it would work well in any subject!
A2: student voice is important so they get a say in what goes on. If students think they have an opinion, it will make them more willing to want to learn. Choice boards are an excellent option for any age #formativechat
@tcondon2013 Have you checked out the puzzles from Math=Love? She has amazing things for the beginning of the school year that are challenging and require problem solving individually or in groups #formativechat
Our school is 1:1 student to laptops. So I use them as much as I feel fit for math. We use @Schoology to build our class pages, and I enjoy using things such as @Kahoot to get the class excited at the beginning of the year #formativechat
Hi! My name is Taylor and I'm from Central PA. I teach 9 grade math, primarily Algebra 1. This will be my 3rd year teaching. I haven't done a legit Twitter chat before so looking forward to connecting and learning new things!
Howdy! Welcome to tonight's #FormativeChat with @twstedteaching & myself! I'm looking forward to tonight's chat... but first, I have a question!
Who are you, & where are you joining from?
Here's a bit about me!
Don't forget to include the hashtag in your tweets!

@AshleyBHinkle@MrsEngler1@Rdene915 I feel your pain! Just finished up summer school last week! Hoping these next few weeks will allow me to refresh so I'm at my best for this school year! #LearnLap
@wmswritergal Have you found any good ways to communicate with parents aside from the basic email home every now and then?? I teach high school math. #dojochatEU#EDUC582
@MsBenton7 That's interesting...I feel like it would depend on the subject. For math I don't know how valuable that would be, and so much of tests are being able to know definitions anyways, so tough to know how effective that would be in my classroom. #educ582
I love this! True/False tends to be a guessing game sometimes, so we don't truly know if the students understand it or not. This gives us a better idea of what they understand, and we can adjust from there!

I really liked this twist on True/False questions that we looked at today during the AP Calculus AB APSI I am attending.
I'm excited to looking through all of the questions from MathQUEST/MathVote which I had never heard of before. https://t.co/GmAzXIHTJY
