David, im the same. Was going to wait for it to stream. Yet got home Friday from work and I just did not want to sit at home. We went, by the time we got tickets, food ( theater had a small menu) drinks and popcorn we were around 70 bucks for the two of us. I will say it was worth it the movie was great. My review is on my page.
Masters of the Universe (2026) – A Nostalgic, Sarcastic Blast from the Past
I’ll be honest—I don’t hit the theater much anymore. Between ticket prices and the constant ideological lectures that seem mandatory in so many modern blockbusters, I’ve mostly stuck to streaming. But I grew up in the ’80s, and like a lot of kids back then, I loved He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. (We jokingly called him the “gay superhero” because Teela was smoking hot and Prince Adam always seemed more interested in hanging with his cat than her.) So when the new Masters of the Universe dropped, nostalgia won out and I bought a ticket.
I went in with low expectations and walked out pleasantly surprised. Yes, there’s a race swap with Man-At-Arms that felt unnecessary, but to its credit, the movie doesn’t beat you over the head with it. It’s there, it’s acknowledged, and then the story moves on—refreshing in 2026.
From the opening scenes, the humor lands hard and often. The film takes gleeful swings at woke culture, HR departments, and geek fandom itself, and it actually works. Skeletor is an absolute highlight—over-the-top, deliciously sarcastic, and perfectly voiced. The adult-oriented jokes hit the sweet spot: clever, a little raunchy, and laced with just enough sexual tension to feel fun rather than forced. The 80s soundtrack influence is strong too, delivering that perfect power-ballad nostalgia that pairs beautifully with the action.
This isn’t high cinema, but it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s a big, colorful, self-aware throwback that respects its source material while poking fun at both the old tropes and the new sensitivities. I laughed out loud more than I expected and left the theater in a great mood.
Final Verdict: 18 out of 20 on the D20. A genuinely fun watch that’s absolutely worth seeing on the big screen. If you loved the original cartoon and are tired of being preached at, do yourself a favor and check this one out. By the power of Grayskull… it delivers.
@fandompulse I just watched it, the only thing woke about this movie was making fun of it. If you are just a slight fan of the cartoon go see this, I laughed my ass off.
@JohnGetchel First thank you for the Wow, next it is
