@technologylaura Just got home from school (Sat) after 5 hours. I ONE 8th gr history lesson outline done bc the SAVVAS text is so detailed and it’s my first year with it. I also have geography to write yet. This is for approx. 2-3 days of teaching. BTW- I am a math teacher.

@DrBradJohnson Year 33. Got handed 2 brand new classes in an entirely new subject area 2 days before school started due to jobs that couldn’t be filled. Prep time was cut. Several newly added initiatives to juggle as well. Not ready to retire but cannot keep this up. 💔

@DrBradJohnson Literally broke down in absolute sobs/sick to my stomach yesterday because the expectations are just too much. They physically can’t be done in the given/reasonable time. The mental drain of the expectations is actually worse than the physical.

@NicholasFerroni I teach in an open concept school built in the 70s. No walls, no doors, no defense. A can of air freshener would solve nothing. They refuse to spend the money to build.

@NicholasFerroni Told to find 30 mins 5 days a wk to do 1-1 math intervention for 1 stdt. Can’t work with anyone else. Reply-there IS no extra time!! Told that “good teachers get creative with their time.” Master teacher with 31 yrs. Do you really think I’m not already being creative? I’m done!

@heymrsbond @MrsJacquetBHS After working with multiple teaching partners who had to be let go because they had NO idea how to manage children OR even how to DO the content (couldn’t solve the math etc), I think new to district tchrs should have multiple observations the first few yes.

@heymrsbond @MrsJacquetBHS Yes, they had mentors. They just couldn’t even do the math, no idea about phonics to work with readers, no idea about main idea/theme. And zero management skills. Came to planning meetings with no manuals and never wrote anything down (paper or computer).
