Something to consider:
Maybe not foisting all of society's responsibilities onto teachers is a good way to recruit and retain them.
Asking one person to ensure that children's academic and socioemotional needs are met has never been sustainable, but here we are.
No matter.
No matter what I put on their plates.
No matter my manner or service.
Some kids will not eat.
And, some things are not about me.
I had to learn to accept this.
One’s ego in such things leads to despair. So, I let go my ego.
And I head back to the kitchen.
Recently moved to the city where I used to teach. At a drive thru and a familiar face pops out…”Mrs. Self…you remember me!??” I said his name and he responded “no waay! I miss you! You just made my day!” YALL. This kid told me everyday how much he hated my class…clearly not😭
The Donner Party Crime Scene was a fun way for students to explore what really led to the ultimate demise of those westward travelers! Also a way for @MsRumsey and I to be cheesy again. 😂 #STEAMlearns#STEAMexplores
During days like these, it’s nice to look back on the fun we’ve had so far this year in the classroom! Students got to pack their wagons and move west! #STEAMlearns#STEAMexplores
Mrs. Self was named a recipient of the Weatherford College Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers today. Congratulations @self_steam16! #bisdstandout
