As we approach 1 year of Daniel’s incarceration, we are inviting you to a night of reflection and solidarity on Tuesday, May 10. We miss him so much and community helps us and him keep his fighting spirit - forever in pursuit of justice - alive. Register: https://t.co/RUS0HEhezw
Daniel is happy to announce that he's made it to home confinement & will be there until July. In the meantime, he has asked that his supporters donate to and publicize a fundraiser for Justina Kaliebe, a comrade with whom he was incarcerated at CMU Marion: https://t.co/UpRTHmCcJu
It’s Daniel’s 36th birthday today! Please write to him, and follow the instructions posted here. He can’t receive postcards or greeting cards, but don’t hold back from printed photos and letters as long as they’re within regulation.
Hosting this letter writing party with @codepink and @TeamDanielHale. Daniel loves receiving letters & he is turning 36 on August 1! Come write birthday solidarity letters with me :)

Thanks for covering his case @mehdirhasan. For folks paying attention to this coverage, Daniel is still incarcerated at the CMU at USP Marion. In Congress, @Ilhan has been the lone, courageous advocate for his commutation. He is slated to be released next summer.
It's a tale of two Espionage Act cases.
While Trump allies cry foul over his indictment under that law, @mehdirhasan says Trump's case is not one where it's being abused. To understand why, you need to understand the story of whistleblower Daniel Hale: https://t.co/LttngYYdta

At one point he said, if he were to have a gravestone, that he would say: "He became a part of the anti-Vietnam and anti-nuclear movement." By chance, my interview about him, for release this Father's Day weekend, was posted today. https://t.co/NoxgQzSXov
When Dan came forward and let everyone know his journey was coming to a close, @Jacobin asked me to prepare an obituary.
It was such an honor, but also the hardest thing I've ever had to write.
I hope I did him justice.

Until @DanielEllsberg got very ill, he was still Daniel Hale’s weekly Sunday call from prison- serving as a confidante, mentor and moral compass on the darkest of days. Rest in power, Mr. Ellsberg. Thank you for showing our Daniel so much love and compassion through to the end
Two very different Espionage Act cases: Trump and the drone whistleblower—He “did not keep those highly sensitive secrets to share in the public interest like a whistleblower, but for self-interest and personal pursuits.” Real crime obstruction/treachery? https://t.co/HLjyiqMhzC
Ten years ago today, Edward Snowden came forward as the source behind a series of revelations about the US's most secretive spy agency.
A decade later he remains in exile.
My piece in @jacobin on what he revealed and why it mattered.

Watch this @AJStream episode with Julian's Father, John Shipton, @ChrisLynnHedges, & our own @McClellanKM who points out that the Assange prosecution will embolden governments around the world to increasingly prosecute journalists:

We are sorry for not sharing more updates. There isn’t much to share. Daniel is waiting anxiously for his release and there has been no momentum on a pardon. He sends his love to @Stella_Assange ahead of next week and is glued to all the Espionage Act related news he can access
@DanielEllsberg has been a tremendous source of support for Daniel Hale throughout his incarceration. We thank you for everything you do for justice Daniel Ellsberg, and everything you have done for us
I wrote this letter recently to my friends in the antiwar and anti-nuclear movements. I see it’s being circulated, so I’ve decided to share it here. For all of you working on these issues, thank you, and please keep going!
One way of resolving all these secret-document scandals is to acknowledge that after 75 years of experimentation, the chief accomplishment of the "classification system" has been to make our government less trustworthy and our country less free.
Abolish and reform it. All of it.
