Congratulations on completing your 3rd Marathon Major! Because the course is famously flat and fast, it is incredibly easy to get swept up into an aggressive target pace too early, and pay the price in the final kilometers. Respecting the flats takes serious mental discipline.

Some kilometres are measured in distance. Others are measured in courage, sacrifice and purpose.

On Saturday, I took part in the 21 KM Wildlife Rangers Challenge.

At first, I was focused on completing the distance. But as the kilometres passed and the fatigue set in, I found myself thinking about our wildlife rangers.

For us, 21 KM is a challenge we choose. For them, long distances, difficult terrain and sacrifice are part of protecting Uganda’s wildlife and natural heritage.

Every tired step became a reminder that the tourism experiences we proudly share with the world are made possible by those who protect our natural treasures every day.

I finished the challenge with more than tired legs; I finished with deeper gratitude, renewed purpose and an even stronger commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism.
