@ThomasDTiffany The irony! City has been balancing the books for years with ARPA dollars. Would this have happened sooner if Federal Covid Relief dollars weren’t a thing?
@PolitiDaniels@FirefightersHOU Kinda sounds like they simply were pointing out someone is hosting a fundraiser and not so much whining. I’d also like to point out many firefighters are former military 🤷🏻♂️
@aquino1_neil@HoustonTX Right to ask tough questions wrong to use questionable formulas to create scenarios and very wrong not to run a scenario based on what the lawsuit requires. Firefighter contract gonna add 80M to 6.7B budget is “busting” laughable
@aquino1_neil Seems like you are advocating for only people that are aligned with your beliefs to have decision making abilities in government. Which seems like the opposite of democracy 🤷🏻♂️
@CitizenOfGlobe1 @abc13houston Firefighter salaries didn’t take anything out of the general fund for 8 years after getting their retirement reduced to reduce liability in the municipal workers and HPD pension. It looks like you missspelled “saved”
@TiffanyForAlief @heygetrhythm@aquino1_neil@tbirdtko@gcaflcio@AbbieKamin@FirefightersHOU Why so mad? The previous admin cut firefighters pension and then not a dime came out of the general fund towards firefighter raises in 8 years. The city saved hundreds of millions on firefighters backs. Hopefully that detailed timeline explained what would happen after 2023
@charlesblain @TiffanyForAlief @PollardforHTX Where were these levels of questions during the previous 8 years asking how bargaining and lawsuits were handled?
@tbirdtko @TiffanyForAlief How much input did city council have in the decision to sue the firefighters collective bargaining rights and cause an 7 year impasse?
@GrooganFox26@fox26@billking@HoustonFirst I’m interested to read the chapter about how to avoid following collective bargaining law (for7 years)by frivolous lawsuits funded by taxpayer dollars. By the way another 60 days of bargaining seems to have passed leading to yet another impasse? What did the city offer you think?
@billkellytexas @FireChiefofHFD @SylvesterTurner The City’s revenue has increased from 4.306 Billion dollars to 6.154 Billion from FY 2018-2024. All while using 0 dollars from the general fund to fund that 18% pay raise, seems it would REALLY help if y’all would explain where/why that 100M is available now!
@dylmcguinness Ahh so that would be about 4M more dollars than the amount spent out of the general fund for firefighters raises in Mayor Turners tenure
@houmayor@astros@HoustonTX 2017 is also the year you began to bargain with the firefighters. It’s amazing the Astros have been to 4 World Series in the same amount of time as Houston Firefighters have been waiting for a contract. Do the Astros win a 3rd before you solve it?
