example of msft windows enshitification:
my mother, circa 70, calls me saying microsoft wants to insert her credit card
me: it’s a scam don’t do it
her: come have a look
me: ffs; it’s a windows update upsell pushing AI and cloud. it’s a legit upsell dark pattern displayed after windows update is complete that can’t be easily bypassed. it’s designed to extract cash from non-knowledgeable people.

two days later:
mum: microsoft is saying I’m out of storage. help.
me: ffs write this tweet
I see huge naivety amongst children’s campaigners/MPs that you can somehow make social media safe for children. Like the state can dictate to private companies how to structure algorithms it doesn’t understand. You can’t. It’s like wishing for safe tobacco kids could smoke.
You actually reduce crime by eliminating poverty. You reduce crime with universal healthcare, public housing, livable wages, and free college. You reduce violence by creating happy, healthy communities that aren’t constantly fighting over basic needs and material resources.
My frontal lobe fully developed, and I realized that working a 9 to 5 job five days a week until I am 60 just so I can “enjoy” a few years when I am close to death is the worst idea I have ever seriously considered.
The most advanced technologies in the world are trees, mycelium networks, river systems, and entire ecosystems. I’m personally tired of idolizing human made technology that destroys the very systems that actually sustain life and hold real wisdom.
I miss the era when having enormous wealth was seen as profoundly embarrassing and potentially cause for damnation, to the extent that robber barons would attempt to rid themselves of their massive fortunes by building libraries, museums, concert halls, research universities.
@onyxicca Maybe impossible for you, but it's your peers who established the standard by how they present themselves. Men have no standards and will fuck anything with a pulse.
My man said something to me that really stuck.
He told me, “I’m not actually here to control you. I’m not your dad, I’m your partner. You’re free to make your own choices. Just understand that every choice has consequences. If you choose something that damages what we’ve built, that’s on you.”
He said, “I’ll always tell you when something hurts me or crosses a boundary, because that’s what healthy communication looks like. But if you keep stepping over the line after I’ve shown you where it is, then you were never really protecting us to begin with.”
And honestly, that’s what accountability in a relationship sounds like.
@ATLienMJ Literally the ONLY people beating Zuko in a fight during an era of war was his more prodigious family members and the group locked in helping the AVATAR. Imagine calling a mf who’s top 10 in the league ass simply because he’s 10.
Only god knows the level of terror the United States has planned for your country that it is warning Embassy staff to leave.
Back in the day, we used to read warnings like this and marvel at US intelligence –“oh, these people know everything,” “how come they are able to spot danger thousands of miles away but our government can’t?”
But as you get older and wiser, you begin to understand that such warnings are usually issued when America has planned evil against your country. They know everything because they orchestrate everything. Every warning is a confession of what they plan to do.
