One large difference between the CCPA and the GDPR is that the CCPA has a clause that stresses right against unreasonable discrimination if someone decides to use the rights given to the in the CCPA.

Jim Halpert, a partner at DLA Piper, says that according to the California Consumer Privacy Act there are nine core rights, including the right to delete personal information from the internet and the right to opt-out of the "sale of personal information. #igfusa

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown on June 28, 2018. It was thought that this would provoke more internet privacy acts in other states but bills in over 10 states failed to become law.

The $5 billion fine against Facebook is the second largest fine in US history and is topped by the $5.5 billion fine against Deepwater Horizon. The FTC choose to fine instead of litigate to bring change to consumers now instead of in years, Commissioner Wilson said. #igfusa
