Dayo’s recovery was a miracle that the neighborhood couldn't stop talking about. After the surgery and the specialist drugs, he went from a man on the brink of the grave to a man with a second lease on life. He was the sun in Foluke’s sky again, but for Foluke, the sun felt cold.
Two months after the hospital bills were paid, they sat in their small living room. The air was soft, filled with the easy "gist" of a couple who had survived a storm. Until Dayo took her hands.
"Foluke," he said, his voice thick with a gratitude that made her stomach churn. "I’ve never asked. That ₦450,000... who gave it to us? I want to kneel before them. I want to show them that I know the value of the life they saved."
Foluke looked at him, and for a moment, the walls of the living room vanished.
The Shadow in the Room
In her mind, she wasn't on her sofa. She was back in Room 305. She could still feel the weight of Segun pinning her down, his voice a jagged glass shard in her ear: “Your husband will die because of your pride.” She remembered the way she had to force the words out—“My love, I’m sorry”—just to get him to stop the humiliation. She remembered the way Segun had laughed when he won, a sound like gravel in a blender, while she traded her dignity for Dayo’s next breath. Every N1,000 note of that money felt like a scar on her skin.
"It was Segun," she whispered.
The warmth drained from Dayo’s face, leaving him pale as a ghost. "Segun? My friend who has been hunting you since school? Why would he just give you that kind of money?"
The truth was a heavy stone she couldn't carry anymore. She told him. She didn’t sugarcoat the humiliation or the "contract" Segun had demanded. She expected a hug, a tear, a "thank you for saving me."
Instead, Dayo’s ego shattered, and the jagged pieces turned toward her.
"You went to his hotel?" he hissed, his voice trembling not with sadness, but with venomous pride. "You let him touch you? You let my best friend treat you like a common whore to buy my life?"
"I did it so you wouldn't die!" Foluke screamed, her heart breaking in real-time.
"I would rather have died!" Dayo roared back. "Now, every time I look at my own leg, I will see Segun’s hand on you. You didn't save my life, Foluke. You poisoned it."
The Cold Reality
Life is not a movie. There was no big reconciliation. There was no moment where Dayo realized his mistake. Instead, he became a stranger with a familiar face. He drowned his shame in bottles of stout, coming home late and "fully drunk" just to avoid looking her in the eye.
Five weeks later, the final blow landed. "I want you out," Dayo said, looking at her like she was a stain on the floor. "By the time I come back, I want your things gone."
Foluke left. She waited for the "Karma" to hit him. She waited for him to realize that his new life was built on her sacrifice. But the universe remained silent. Within months, Dayo had filed for divorce. Soon after, news reached her that he was marrying another woman—a woman who didn't come with the "baggage" of a painful sacrifice.
The news hit Foluke like a physical collapse. She wandered into the Lagos traffic, her mind a blurred mess of Segun’s laughter and Dayo’s rejection. She didn't hear the truck. She didn't feel the impact. She just felt the darkness finally being kinder than the light.
When the hospital called Dayo to tell him she was in a coma, he didn't rush to her side. He didn't cry. He looked at his new bride, adjusted his shirt, and muttered, "Tell Segun. He’s the one who paid for her."
He went back to his dinner. Foluke stayed in the dark. And the world kept turning, indifferent to the cost of a breath.
THE END.
Hyperliquid is seriously putting up numbers.
$2.6T in notional volume in 2025 alone that’s nearly double Coinbase’s ~$1.4T. TVL sitting close to $6B, open interest peaking at $16B, and user growth exploding from 300K to over 1.4M.
That’s not noise. That’s momentum.
$HYPE is currently hovering around $29 (down ~6%) after getting rejected at $38. To me, this feels like a healthy cooldown zone rather than weakness — markets breathe before the next move.
The bigger question is this:
Are we getting closer to the moment where on-chain perps actually challenge CEX dominance?
Feels like the gap is shrinking faster than most expected.

$DOGE deserves more respect than we give it.
In Web3, real respect comes from how useful a crypto is to us. So, if you hold DOGE, you may be faced with this question, “What do I do with my DOGE?" Which is sort of a tough question to answer considering the limitations DOGE faces with the barricade of the Dogecoin network.
You mostly have to swap it for a random ecosystem token just to participate in the market and DeFi. So why do we have DOGE if we can't use it for anything worthwhile to move the Web3 system forward?
The @DogechainFamily solution brings DOGE into limelight. While most chains make you use their native asset for fees, Dogechain was selfless in creating a structure that plugs $DOGE in for gas, transaction fees, and other use cases.
By using DOGE as gas, the network stays aligned with the people who actually own and love the meme. They now have a functional currency that powers smart contracts, mints NFTs, and launches new projects with near-zero friction.
So, what are you doing with your $DOGE today? Bring it to Dogechain and ride.
