@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil It's not really about having a superiority complex. Games have simply become too homogenized. I fully accept that most action games are played on a controller, but FPS used to be PC domain. Now all FPS games are designed around controllers. Same thing with RPGs
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil Yeah, but a lot of new games are pretty bare bones when it comes to options. That's what I mean when I say that PC is treated as an afterthought. Player count matters little when the games ported to the platform are poorly optimized.
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil I mean, imagine if a game was ported for console but required a mouse. That alone would cause outrage among console gamers. Meanwhile, not a single game in the last 6 years has been designed for mouse and keyboard in mind. And we used to have entire genres around those.
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil Really, the core problem is that despite PC having the most customization potential out of any platform, it feels the most limited today due to how every game is designed. Sure, I can pick up a controller, but at that point, I might as well play these games on console.
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil Of course, the core issue here being that both gamers and developers treat PC as a discount console rather than its own thing, which is why nearly every game that's come out for the past 16 years has been designed solely with consoles in mind, while PC is just an afterthought.
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil Implying I care about those games when I can just play Max Payne, F.E.A.R., Oni, Quake, etc. Games that were actually designed for mouse and keyboard. And the Witcher sequels already betrayed the first game's PC roots, so it's not a big loss for me.
@Voided__Reality@VeltisLeEvil Also, they do hold relevance, because saying someone is clown for playing an RPG on a mouse and keyboard goes to show how ignorant you are despite your experience.
@Voided__Reality@VeltisLeEvil It's not moving the goalpost because the primary discussion is about video games, not tabletop. Perhaps I should have made it clearer, but we're discussing video game RPGs.
@thatoneguy7560@puppycelebrity Sam Lake wasn't involved with this, which epxlains the quality of the OST. The first Max Payne games had great soundtracks, and the ending song to the second game is timeless.
@Ppopopooooxlae@Kaznodziej14978@VeltisLeEvil If you're releasing a game on PC and telling people to play it with a controller, then yeah. It's a poorly designed console port that should have never been on the platform to begin with.
@Voided__Reality@VeltisLeEvil So where did they begin? And don't tell me tabletop since we're talking video games, not TTRPGs. Were all those isometric RPGs played on console on a controlled? Were games like Witcher 1 and Mount & Blade not PC exclusives? Go ahead, old man. Teach me some gaming history.
@Voided__Reality@VeltisLeEvil RPGs literally began on PC, and that's how they've been played ever since. What, you think the first Witcher game was on any other platform? Next thing you'll say is that FPS and Strategy games should only be played on a controller.
@hopefullyidont1 PC has an abundance of old RTS, FPS, 2D platformers, and stealth games. To say that all of them are barely games or bad is delusional. What's next? Doom and Quake are bad? Deus Ex and Starcraft are barely games?
@Retro_Sanctuary@ZoneEnjoyer@nygma0451 Herzog Zwei itself was more of a quasi-strategy game that lacked many of the features in the RTS games of the 90s and 2000s, like direct unit control, base building, and tech trees, which are all core traits of what we know as RTS today, thanks to Dune II.
@Retro_Sanctuary@ZoneEnjoyer@nygma0451 The ones from 7th gen were all ports of PC RTS games like Supreme Commander. PC simply became a more convenient platform after Dune II established the core rules, so there was no reason to make them on console anymore.
@Frihetc010@Johnny_1093@_Cyuu_@YWNBAW_0451 And what does that make you? A child seeking an artificial substitute where you play out your fantasy of being an epic conqueror who rapes and pillages.
@Frihetc010@Johnny_1093@_Cyuu_@YWNBAW_0451 I don't need games to imitate natural desires. If you do, then that's your problem. Because at the end of the day, it's all just a poor imitation.
@Frihetc010@Johnny_1093@_Cyuu_@YWNBAW_0451 I'm not religious, nor am I your pal. What Euros do is up to them. Your savagery isn't even directed at the enemies within your state, so it's impotent. There's no real point in even further discussing this.
