@PleasantKenobi Alara contrasted uniquely from sets before and after. The ally colors created a new exp for players. Multicolor cards are a dime a dozen now and even tribes are becoming 2-4 colors, with 3C commanders. The aesthetics maybe fine but its effect on the MTG game can't be replicated
@mrwafu@qarloscuiapo@UnseenJapanSite If xenophobia is the avoidance/fear of a race and refusal to accept them, where does the reasoning come from? 🤔
Xenophobia is just the branch of the racism tree. Other branches: hatred, condescension, pseudoscience, etc.
@mrwafu@if_3D I paid double the deposit because I was a foreigner despite having the most well-known educational company in the prefecture as the guarantor and an acceptable level of Japanese.
2 years later, people in the building still refuse to get in the elevator with me.
@JoJoCheck1@UnseenJapanSite Unfortunately, Japanese is very complex and nuanced, making it difficult (not impossible) for non-natives to comfortably communicate. Natives simply assume (accurately) most foreigners won't be able to, so these signs can be an easy way to mean "no foreigners" without saying it.
@TheDunkCentral Amare/Griffin. Their careers are defined primarily from playing with Point Gods. Love built his career without a legit PG for years, then got one couldn't shoot. Dropped a 30-30 game. At least Blake had a decent bag in Detroit when he was healthy.
@MorrisMichael Considering how many foreigners pay into it without receiving the benefits (maybe getting a refund after a long arduous process), it definitely seems small.
No wonder so many elderly people gamble...
@jamesajack They've already kind of done the same thing with taxes right, saying if you don't pay your taxes they can revoke your status. Completely glosses over the fact that there are millions more voluntarily unemployed people not paying taxes or pension yet benefit way more from them.
@jamesajack @Bekiwii Ironic. They'll sing songs about how awesome rice is, or that Japan's rice is the best, but no one wants to grow it. They should do what America does: prop farming up as a noble lifestyle.
@jamesajack The original Super Mario RPG and the sequels might be good. I'm always a fan of Story of Seasons or Rune Factory, but if you want to go something more straightforward, I'd suggest something like Dragon Quest. The 3 and 4 remakes even offer a female option.
@wojespn@excelbasketball Surprised he took the 3 year. He would make more money taking a 1-year (or 1+1 PO) to show off his recovery before putting himself on the market next year (or the year after) for more.
@KnicksMuse@wojespn Likely there's a termination clause just in case he repeats his past actions... that's the best we can hope for in the NBA. Cause otherwise they don't really care that they're employing a public-facing employee that endangers his own children and beats his partner. #nbacares
@Claudio6Jaime@KnicksMuse@wojespn Look at the list of things he's done and think about why he's even able to play right now. A normal man would have been locked up.
His status as an NBA player helped him evade jail. He has not even come close to carrying out the consequences of his actions.
@TheShogunTYO It's just what her job is promising in exchange for the test. Some jobs push this, esp if they hire non-natives on a regular basis. On the opposite end, there are jobs that offer raises based on Eiken too, even though it doesn't guarantee English communication.
Get that 💰
@yo_samuteki I agreed with everything you said there. An ALT system made to provide real results would raise Japan's English levels countrywide.
Then skilled professionals wouldn't need to be "lowly ALTs" just to live in Japan, and people with an Edu bg would feel like their work matters.
