The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of seven hotels and restaurants in Pune after inspections found poor hygiene, violations of food safety rules and, in some cases, expired food items. The inspections were carried out between July 1 and July 3 under the Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra campaign, following the directions of Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

The establishments facing action include Hotel Grand Purandar (Sinhagad Road), Crown Bakers (Sinhagad Road), Agrotees Catering Pvt. Ltd. (Ambegaon), Barkat Biryani House (Wagholi), Royal Biryani House (Wagholi), and National 360 (Bavdhan). The FDA said strict action will continue against businesses violating food safety norms and urged citizens to report food quality complaints on the toll-free helpline 1800-222-365.

On 18th June, a 13-year-old girl took e-rickshaw to go to her home in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan.

Instead of taking her home, the driver kidnapped her and sold her to someone in a hotel. She was rescued from a hotel on 22nd June by police.

In these five days, this minor girl was moved between four different local hotels, forced to consume alcohol to suppress her cries, and sexually assaulted by 32 men.

All the hotels connected to this case have been demolished. 12 people linked to the exploitation have been arrested including the rickshaw driver.

Anyone who assaulted or helped others to assault this little girl should be hanged to death. Anything less than that is just waste of time and resources. These people so filthy and unworthy that they should not be allowed to breathe the same air.
