For me, the City sanctions will not be happening.
The relationship between the UK and Abu Dhabi is way too deep.
It’s above the Premier League’s head, and in general highlights the issues of state ownership.
Premier League are fighting an incredible battle but it’s now a matter of national interest.
Arsene Wenger knew it all. When he warned the Premier League about the inauguration of the Abramovich era, he was told to stop moaning, with Mourinho calling him a voyeur. This was the catalyst to the Premier Leagues spending power.
When Manchester City signed our best players using illicit money, he had to accept it. Screw these two clubs.
Bare media outlets and journalists need to apologise to Arsene Wenger cos the nonsense they were saying while he had to sell his best players every summer post Emirates move while others were legit flouting the books and inflating revenue streams to spend all sorts is crazy
Arsene Wenger and 08-11 Arsenal are the biggest victims of this. City took Nasri, Toure, Adebayor & Clichy in their prime from Arsenal, which had a ripple effect that led to Cesc & RVP leaving too, which in turn meant Arsenal never competed again for years
Of course Arteta could have done more to platform Martinelli. I don’t think anyone can seriously deny that but that’s part of the game.
Some players will always fall through the cracks especially those with specialist skillsets, regardless of quality/potential.
Happens to every manager, will always be that way and Arteta is still relatively inexperienced so you have to take the good (phenomenal imo) with the bad.
Gabriel Martinelli is a quintessential unsung hero of the Arteta Arsenal project. Season upon season of growth that culminated in an incredible 22/23 campaign. Combination of inadequate LHS dynamics, how he was used and an individual drop off can explain what followed. Certainly the player I feel Mikel didn’t manage to unlock post 22/23.
Nonetheless, what a servant. Don’t have a bad word to say about the lad.
Forever a Gunner ❤️
The club can confirm that Gabriel Martinelli has joined Al-Hilal on a permanent deal.
Thank you for everything and best of luck, Gabi 🤝
Martinelli PL stats last ssn are used out of context too. Only started 11 games and I'm pretty sure all of them were with gyokeres, and most with madueke too. The front 3 that we all saw never worked. And all of our attackers struggles with goals.
