This Memorial Day, while we’re out enjoying cookouts, ball games, and bike rides, let’s remember that for some people, today is heavy. For them, it’s not just a holiday. It’s a reminder of who’s missing.

To the woman in this photo, Memorial Day means the husband who never came home. It means raising a child without the person she thought would be by her side. I’d want to say, “I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the sacrifice your family has made for all of us.” And I’d want to hug her. Hug that baby.

John F. Kennedy said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words but to live by them.”

So let’s live by them. Let’s honor the fallen by living with love, kindness, and intention. Not just today but every day.
