Tenfold Your Life
Wealth Idea #209: Active vs. Passive Investing
Tenfold Pillar: Money as a Tool
The active vs. passive debate generates more heat than almost any other topic in finance. Most of the noise misses the actual question worth asking.
Let's dive in...
@mhp_guy Never “give” your kid a phone. Buy the phone for yourself and you “let them use it”.
People have a different mindset about things they don’t own. Plus, you’ll never have to hear them say, “It’s my phone! I can do what I want with it!”
Update:
Shockingly, Codex provided the best results (based on a graded rubric none of the models knew about).
Apparently, it's not just good for coding.
I'm an avid Claude user and rarely use ChatGPT or Codex anymore. This may have changed my mind.
My AI Experiment
I just put this into Claude and it came up with a GREAT idea for my biz. It’s now executing it. Can’t wait to see the output!
I have Codex, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, and Microsoft Copilot open on my desktop right now. I’d like to give them all a somewhat complicated task and have Claude Cowork run point or be the orchestrator. So I wanted cowork as the orchestrator to tell each one of these AI models what they have to do. I want cowork to monitor what they’re doing, and then I want cowork to write a report about how they differ. After that, I want cowork to work with each one of them to get the best outcome possible. I want cowork to take the best parts of each models’ output and tell the others about it and tell them to revise their output based on this new and better output from the other models. You’re familiar with my business. What can I have them do that would be a productive use of their time and a good experiment for me to see how they differ and how cowork is capable of managing other frontier models?
I liquidated my entire 401K yesterday morning.
The financial advisor on the phone begged me to reconsider.
He used words like tax penalty and catastrophic compound interest loss.
I told him fiat currency is a collective hallucination.
I took the $85K and drove straight to a commercial restaurant supply warehouse.
I bought exactly 12,000 pounds of iodized table salt.
It took 4 trips in a rented moving truck to transport it to my basement.
Historically, salt was used to pay Roman soldiers.
When the central banking system collapses next Tuesday, I'll be the wealthiest warlord in the tri-state area.
My basement is currently a massive, white, moisture-absorbing desert.
I have to wear protective eyewear just to do laundry.
My neighbor asked why I was carrying 50-pound bags of sodium into my house for 9 straight hours.
I told him I'm curing meats.
I'm not curing meats.
I'm hoarding the currency of the apocalypse.
He'll be begging me for seasoning by November.

@cordes_tax The number of times my wife told my kids to put on a coat/sweat shirt/pants to walk to the bus stop this year is unfathomable.
Me: Just let them go. If they get cold they might learn something.
@Keshav_Lohiaaa@Cernovich Spoke to an owner today. He spends almost $500k/yr on employees in the Philippines. Over the next 18 months he anticipates AI will allow their team to re-shore this work. His payroll will decrease by ~20%!
@robbysoave I’ve encountered this twice in my life. They asked me if I regret bringing kids into this world with the state it’s in today.
I asked both of them the same thing: How much news do you watch?
I then told them I don’t watch the news so the world is wonderful from my perspective!
Happy to share that my Ted Talk from Vencouver in April just went live. In the heat of job anxiety, I believe there is only one thing that makes a job “truly safe.”
