The situation in Portland, Ore. is grim. The city has catastrophic low numbers of police officers following the 2020 BLM-Antifa riots & far-left demands that police quit because the residents hate them. I think @PortlandPolice do not have the numbers to reclaim the huge @Portland_State library that has been violently sieged by Antifa & far-left extremists. Neighboring police departments that used to help Portland have all severed those mutual aid ties because their officers were endangered in Multnomah County.

I studied countless times at that library as a grad student at PSU. It is a huge building that will require significant resources to secure. Pulling police from emergency 911 responses to go to PSU will put lives at risk elsewhere. This “Gaza” autonomous zone encampment could end up killing Portlanders. PSU’s president Ann Cudd made a huge mistake by supporting the initial exterior encampment.
